Re: Choosing a New Lap Top

(second try of posting.. The first attempt resulted in a error and silly me did not copy paste) Below are some examples with Kilkis remarks in mind. (within your budget) They have the minimal specs that Kiliks gave, and i do second his recommendations All are 15" IPS, full HD. Most with dual di...

Re: 3D TV's

Hi Toastie, I could only find one.. https://www.skroutz.gr/c/12/television.html?keyphrase=3d+tileorasis The tv search on skroutz does not even have 3d as a search function anymore. If you have a lot of 3d movies and really liked the way 3d worked on a tv, i guess the only way to get a 3d-tv is to fi...

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

Warwik is 100% right, often the only way is to await the technician, ambush him before he can leave and drag him to the suspected offending point. Lately i see more and more good technicians, willing to go a step further. Also they seem to know their equipment a lot better then the past. They have n...

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

Steven, Tweet Tweet has ADSL2+ not VDSL Oeps, my typo.. was meaning adsl2+ On the two lines that i have, i can reach the full 100Mbit on both lines. The only limit i currently have is the 100Mbit port of my router that does not reach the full speed, but with my laptop directly to the OTE modem i re...

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

TweetTweet, That attenuation indicates a terrible line, a bad connection somewhere between your router and the main OTE box Its very high. You could attempt to follow your cable and see if there are any open boxes with bad wiring. Your modem says that your link is 2Mbit. Is that what you actually pa...

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

Hi TweetTweet, 1Mbps sounds really slow! When you go to http://www.speedtest.net and do a speed test, what speed does it tell you ? If you did not change the settings of your router: Surf to http://192.168.1.1 Press "status information" Look at these parts: DSL / Link In sync since 2019-06...

Re: To have a TV or not?

While providing network to number of villa's i got some insight of the streaming. Its very hard to predict, some renters streams almost day and night, some stream only now and then. But most stream. I also often see multiple streams from single places. Some bring a Chromebox/slingbox or use chromeca...

Re: Charging my Kindle

What model of Kindle do you have ? Some models/generations have higher power requirement. What does the back of your kindle say regarding power ? (500mAh?) Is your usb port on the pc a usb 2 or 3 ? The maximal charge on a usb 2 port is 500mAh, so if it charges on the pc it should charge on a 500mAh ...

Re: Just bought a house!

Gallios also has a small selection of furniture and beds among a lot of other household stuff. You can find them on the road between Platanes and Adele, a big purple building For whitegoods it might be better to go into Rethymno. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%CE%93%CE%91%CE%9B%CE%9B%CE%99%CE%9F...

Re: UK Television

I assume that the complex has a shared VDSL line ? And with poor signal, do you mean wifi signal or internet speed ? In case of a shared VDSL line, it's main problem is the number of concurrent users.. Lets say its a 50Mbit VDSL line, and there are 10 users streaming in SD quality, it will be a &quo...

Re: The road to Zakros

The spring at Pano Zakros is also a very nice place to visit while in the area. It provides some of the water that flows through the Valley of the Dead. They also have a watermuseum in upper Zakros but it was closed the day of our visit The alatsolimni beach near Xerokambos can be a very strange sig...

Re: Microwave WiFi/internet link

For any "microwave" link to work you will need line of sight, a clear view to the other location. However for a real microwave link you require a licence just like the big telco's. In lower frequencies you do not need a perfect line of sight (for example 900mhz) but those require a licence...
