Re: European flag

I can probably match you on this one, Bob! High for second altos as well. To be nit picky, there isn't a prelude to the ninth symphony; the last movement begins with orchestra only and then continues with chorus and soloists. The other 3 movements are purely orchestral. Second alto eh? And there wa...

Re: Currency Transfers, possible problems.

I made some local Greek bank payments on Friday afternoon, 19th April and the transfer date came up as Tuesday 23rd April. Greece to Greece transfer between two Greek banks, so some of the Greek banks were not registering local transactions over the Catholic Easter. Very strange! The things that ar...

Re: Satalite?

I don't think you will get BBC1 on a satellite here. I certainly never did. Most people use Internet streaming services of one sort or another. Warwick Until about 4 years or so ago we got BBC World News but not BBC1. I really don't know anything about the cost of providing satellite feeds to the g...

Re: European flag

Why would you need to speak German? The EU anthem is the prelude to Beethoven's 9th Symphony. While the symphony itself is a choral work, based on Schiller's poem and as such was written in German, the EU anthem has no words . From the official European Union web site : There are no words to the an...

Re: rent or buy?

I merely posted my opinions on the fees. I didnt quite expect to get my head ripped off with silly replies from people. When your disparaging comment: "if you are a foreigner you wil be scammed and ripped off with hidden fees and costs." turns out to be baseless, you should expect, at lea...

Re: rent or buy?

We sold a couple of years ago and there were no charges other than lawyer and estate agent bills. We are subsequently renting and have no intention of returning to the UK unless forced to by the vagaries of Brexit. Life here is good, renting or owning. Bob.

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Got a bit more on the 74 and over driving test today. This candidate had to drive out of the car park and turn right, then right again, right again, right again back into the car park. Job done. He did say that he had to ask the examiner to fasten his seat belt though! Bob.

Re: The Will of the People

The only thing that is certain just now is that we are in for some turbulent times. The new BREXIT party will be re-hashing the old lies and half-truths that UKIP (et al) did before the referendum and pushing for an immediate hard BREXIT; the Tories and Labour both have no idea at all where they are...
