Re: Oil central heating

........ since they've owned the place both house and apartment have become even more "illegal" with alterations and extensions to both buildings. There's a surprise. :) Andrew Not really Andrew. I think legality only becomes an issue when you want to sell. If you intend to keep it in the...

Re: Can I borrow my car..

Almost sure you can lend your car to family (or anyone else) if they have a valid driving licence which is recognised in Greece. Unless things have changed recently, it's the car that is insured, not the driver (although the recent move by an insurance company not to reinsure a customer over the age...

Re: European Citizens Rights in the EU (ECREU)

As far as I can see the government position is: 1 We are leaving the EU so we can take control of our borders. 2 We are not going to have a border. I doubt if the absolute top of the range Cornish clotted cream fudge from Harrods could resolve that one? Warwick At the moment Harrods are probably as...

Re: European Citizens Rights in the EU (ECREU)

Oh what a tangled web Brexit has woven, maybe no reciprocal agreement, big problem... : cry: What's the relevance of that to abolition of the 15 years rule re. voting in UK elections. Relevant in that Brexit work and effort has put other domestic legislation on the back burner because of lack of ti...

He said, in 2014, that the Tory Party manifesto would include repeal of the 15 year rule. Good old Brexit appears to have shoved it to the bottom of the heap - again. Bob.

Re: buying a property

Our experience doesn't quite match your situation but if it's of any help, we (English) who have lived here for 20 years, recently sold our house to an American and his German partner, living and working in Germany. The purchase price went from the buyer's bank in Germany to my account with Currency...

As ever, the devil is in the detail. When they start calling the same thing (sort of) by a different name, then it does screw things up a bit! Well done Warwick. Bob.

Re: Good Old Lidls

have to disagree about the gin, having drank gin for many years, I was pleasantly surprised at how decent there gin is, a good backup for when I'm running low on Gordons. Ditto. Perhaps a lot of it is down to the tonic. Gerani large bottles are good value for money and go well with Castelgy gin. Bob.

Re: Post box vandalism in Kalyves

Yes,I think it was vandalism. For a start, the envelope we had posted the previous day had been opened, the letter removed, and the lot dropped on the ground. Also, one of the boxes had the bottom just hanging open but the other was all twisted and damaged. Posted again today at the post office! Bob.

Post box vandalism in Kalyves

Discovered (luckily) on the floor by a post box in Kalyves this morning, a letter to the UK which we posted there yesterday. The bottom of the box had been forced open and our letter was opened. Spotted another box in Kalyves with the bottom hanging loose and mail precariously balanced inside. Guess...

Re: Public Water Fountains

Water fountains? Well, you know that well-worn phrase - what goes around, comes around. When you consider that recent considerable and costly research suggested that children who are read to at an early age are more likely to be interested in reading and more proficient at it when they go to school ...

...Leader, wingman, 'tail-end-Charlie'... You may be correct but I would envisage that as a closer formation. The third plane seems to be quite a distance behind the other two. Warwick In my own mind with absolutely no experience of the air force, my thought has always been - a couple of trainees, ...
