Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

We had all completed the legal declaration form in advance so we only had to sign it. Warwick Likewise we completed ours before turning up, and the first thing the young lady behind the counter did was to give us each another identical form and asked us to complete it! We hadn't signed the one we h...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Two friends renewed their IKA books at the office on the Souda Road this morning. They were asked for photocopies of both their passports and their registration certificates. They only had the original beige ones, despite being here longer than 5 years, but that was not a problem. They then went to...

Re: Carry-On Counting

Now, perhaps Aegean would try to enforce the seat belts rule, so we don't have passengers leaping up and opening the lockers while the aircraft is still taxiing after landing. Some hope. That calls to mind a delicious moment some 5 years ago on a delayed flight from Brisbane to Sydney. When we were...

NB if you receive a government pension it has to be taxed in the UK under present rules! So if you have no income in Greece you cannot be taxed in Greece. .................... and the last time I started the ball rolling to become tax resident in Greece, the Accountants told me that the Tax Office ...

For some odd reason, market stalls and kiosks are exempt from making the charge! Good news, nonetheless. Bob.

How can a UK diplomat predict what action the EU will take in the event of a no deal scenario? Only the EU know that. Warwick Simple Warwick. Many UK diplomats and certainly MP's haven't a clue about what happens in the EU or how it works, much less what effect being in the EU has on those of us wh...

Re: Insurance for a British reg van in Crete?

Some 20 years ago I insured our UK reg car with a Greek company in Chania - Alpha I think it was. Had the insurance for about 1 year before legally importing the car and getting Greek plates (yes , we lived here all the time) and the insurance company just changed the reg no! Not sure you can do tha...

Re: Electronic transactions’ lottery - Check if you've won!

So would I need a login also for the other AFM ? Yes you do need your own login. Even if you do a joint tax return you can still log in to Taxisnet with your own AFM and password. Everyone who has an AFM number can log in to Taxisnet with their own codes. If you don't have the password your account...

Unless I have missed it amid all the sound and fury, I'm not sure that Barnier has been authorised to state that the UK's future relationship with the EU "will be based on one of the existing relationships.." (ie Norway, Canada, Switzerland.) In fact, if the media is to be believed, Barni...

Re: Electronic transactions’ lottery - Check if you've won!

As far as I am aware, Bob, you would need to be paying tax in Greece to qualify. A quote from the link provided by Stavros, my emphasis in red: "...based on taxpayers’ transactions... Warwick No need for me to check then - I don't have any income arising in Greece and I pay no 'INCOME' tax her...

Re: Electronic transactions’ lottery - Check if you've won!

Stavros posted the information here to help ex-pats who are tax resident and hence eligible to win. He recognised that your comments could be true of many of them. It is no more convoluted than logging on to any web site such as e-banking, an email account, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, R...
