Re: 15 Year Voting Rule - Bill

Shame on them. Lost all faith (what little remained) in UK MPs. Bob.

Re: Revoke Article 50

Sadly, arguments about bias are unwinnable Warwick. In my experience, people hear what they want to hear, whether it is pro or con their own particular views. Far more interested in your assertion (which I have also made several times as well on this forum) that the Home Office in the UK is unfit fo...

Like it! (the ad and your post, that is. When living in Oz I preferred Carlton).

Re: Water filter taps

Really don't know what the water is like in Kokkino Horio in terms of soft or hard, but we use a Britta water filter for the kettle and that's about it. No lime-scale in the kettle and according to latest CT scan and ultrasound no stones in the kidneys. All must be well! Bob.

Re: The Will of the People

After all this time, I have to confess to finding it difficult to fathom Corbyn. My 'gut reaction' to resign my 40 years of Labour Party membership shortly after his election as leader was confirmed was, I am sure, the right thing to have done. God forbid that he should ever become the Prime Ministe...

Re: cremation in Greece

The latest on the internet is that the go-ahead has been given for a crematorium in Athens and to operational in 2019, good news for those who prefer cremation. :D Yes. All we have to hope is that the Department of Antiquities doesn't find some archaeological remains when digging out the foundation...

Votes for Life

Last mentioned on this forum I think by me in the middle of last year under a different thread. Update: the Votes for life bill (scrapping the 15-year rule) is due for its 3rd and final reading in the Commons on 22nd March. Yesterday in the Commons it was confirmed that the government continues to s...

Re: The Will of the People

I may be using the wrong terminology but, as I understand it, 'no deal' although being a default as you say, cannot be changed without a change in the law which I assume will take a certain amount of time. Absolutely Tim. If there is no deal by the close of play on 29 March, out we go, with no deal...

Re: Cigarette smoke issue

I understand from advice from many years ago that lifelong nonsmokers are more tolerant of passive smoking than those who have smoked many years then given up, how many agree with these sentiments, I personally gave up on doctors advice some 40 years ago from a habit that was 60 a day and 100 a day...

Re: cremation in Greece

Went to a disinterment a year or few back and the body wasn't 'ready' so they just put the lid on and waited another year! Good old Greece. Wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. Bob.

Re: The Will of the People

Personally I think we are about to jump off the edge of the cliff. Tonight's vote is meaningless as far as making anything binding. It will do no more than confirm that most people don't want a no-deal ending to this farce. Nothing legally binding though. That then leads to tomorrow, when voting for...

Re: cremation in Greece

It would be good if this move gathered some momentum. It is true that some funeral directors here will take the deceased (and relatives if presumably they pay their way) to Bulgaria and then return with the ashes. Certainly one of the two in Kalyves will do that - last price I heard was in the regio...
