Re: Roofing tiles held in place by stones!

I know that our roof tiles are held in place by zinc screws and cement where possible. We live high up in a windy place and anything not screwed down will be gone in an instant. The Greeks have plenty of stones, the island is all stones, and they are cheaper than zinc screws.

We have friends coming to Crete for Christmas and we are thinking it would be nice to find a good hotel that offers a package for a few day over the festive period. Have tried searching but only finding hotels that are open but not offering an all inclusive package. Does anybody have any links or kn...

Have reported the problem both here and in the UK and 6 months later it still has not been resolved. This happened last year but after 4 minths was sorted but did not last. Re: Renewing UK passport

I renewed mine earlier this month and asked for the digital photo to be put on a CD so I could upload it on to the passport application. No problems and the new passport was delivered to me by DHL in under a month.

Re: Realistic Driving Costs

I hope Ladyt25 you have residents permits as with Brexit possibly on the way you could get caught in the 90/180 day rule. This means you can only stay 90 days in any 180 day period in the EU if you do not have the necessary permit. I have heard of a few people who used to drive to Europe for the win...

Re: Cancelling bank direct debit

Yes I use the same bank and cancelled my direct debit with DEH last week. Go to the bank and pick one of the agents, not the cashiers and after a few forms and signings it was job done. Not at all Greek as it was so simple.

Re: Life Certificate

Kep offices have been told not to confirm details on requests for pensions etc for non Greeks. They pointed to a poster on the wall confirming this, so they told me, could not argue as it was in Greek. Possible Greek logic........... Try you accountant as they are normally very helpfull.

I would not bother as a friend booked a table for this week but found it closed and a note saying it may open sometime in the future.
Do not hold your breath.

Re: Hearing aids

I also recently went down the investigation route for hearing aid supplies. What was quoted here was nearly double what I could get the same devices for in the UK. Found Boots very good and they may not be the very cheapest but having explained where I resided I was given enough spare parts to last ...

Re: postal service

Hi. Has anybody heard any up to date information with regard to our postman no longer covering the villages of Drapanos, Kokkino Xorio, Kefalas Vamos, etc.? We understood he was due to finish at the end of March but he was granted continual work to the end of April and from then on we would have to ...
