A plea from an 80 year-old

As one of the most vulnerable to Covid-19 infection effects, I make a plea to all forum members who intend to visit old people* or to include them at family Christmas Dinner. Logic suggests to me that keeping separate from other people is a good way to avoid passing on the virus. I ask that any of y...

Re: Split Word Doc

Tried it and it worked well after I had added a delimiter to the multipage file but we have files with computer-generated names which does not help! I failed to make the split by section break work. I downloaded Kutools as it seemed potentially useful but how on earth do I run it? The 64-bit version...

Re: Split Word Doc

Thanks Warwick. It seems a long time ago that I used Visual Basic but I will give it a go. There is some new software that my daughter found when trying to solve a problem. It is specifically to do with private school admin and it is on my "to do" list to investigate. Access was the first ...

Split Word Doc

I have a problem: does anyone know or do you know a program that will help? The end-of-term reports at my daughter's school are in Word docx files, one per class. In each docx there are separate pages for each student. Usually, she prints off a student's page ready for the parents interviews but Cov...

Another e-mail scam

I received an email purporting to be from a delivery service saying that a delivery had been tried & now I needed to send 3pounds for redelivery. As I am expecting a delivery I opened the link and tried to enter my name & address. Strange, I thought, they have the delivery address otherwise ...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

Like so many people, I have just noted the regulations that affect me personally day-to-day so now I need help! 1. I have a number of little jobs to be done around the house that require a plumber, an electrician, and a general handyman. Are such people allowed to travel to my home and do the work? ...

Re: Keir Hardy's cap

Thanks Warwick, I had forgotten that, I will order it when I get my new credit card (old one lost!) Watched the first series of Brass. It was as good as I remembered, Despite having to adopt a Northern accent, these actors had learnt their trade so you can hear every word. I am happy to say that I d...

Do they speak proper Greek?

As I drank my early morning coffee listening to BBC Radio 4, it struck me that a very good test of clear speech would be to get prospective announcers etc to read the shipping forecast. Today, a lady with a quiet voice spoke with such beautiful speech that it all sounded so interesting, Contrast thi...

Re: Online delivery address

Being in lockdown at home, and because I don't know enough Greek to read Greek websites, I often have deliveries from the UK and have become accustomed to waiting 3-4 weeks for delkivery. But the last delivery was exceptional! I got a strange phone call from a courier who struggled with English as I...

Re: Healthcare after the end of 2020

If I wanted to travel then I could do what it says. But I will not willingly travel to UK ever and I can't afford travel elsewhere. Simple question: I have been registered with IKA since I got here 14years ago and I have a residence permit and receive a UK old-age pension, so do I have to do anything?

Re: I Did Larf?

I think there is an English term to express the reaction to someone talking (usually a politician or z-list "celebrity) that encompasses "Laugh? I could have cried". There is, of course, the old joke: How do you tell if a politician is lying? It seems that Boris is being "advised...

Re: New Lockdown

Is there a copy/paste method when sending an SMS? It takes me so much time to get my name and address right due to aged fingures so it would be great if I could copy/paste and SMS each timne I want to go out (shopping only)

A new scam

Today I received an email supposedly from the UK TV authorities which appears to require me to use their link to supply personal and bank details. I say "appears" because I did not follow their link and have deleted the email. It is also directed to a person with the name that is my email ...
