Re: Funerals

David, the pastor of the church in Tavronitis, is very knowledgable about funerals for expats. See http://www.christchurchcrete.com/

Re: Driving

There are rules and there are Greek drivers - two different things! I remember the advice I got when I first came to Crete: "don't use indicators because it only confuses the Greeks". The best advice I can give is to expect the unexpected! fF the car in front indicates right (or left) don'...

Long term rental wanted in Chania

My landlord wants my apartment for his son so I am seeking a long term rental in Chania.
My preferences are for ground floor, 1 bedroom, good sized kitchen/dining room/living room. Must have central heating and air conditioning. Best if on a decent bus route to town centre.

Rugby World Cup on TV

It seems that Sky is the only TV service in UK to show the forthcoming world cup. It may well be that one of the BBC or ITV channels will show "highlights" late at night but I don't find these programmes satisfactory particularly the long punditry. Is Sky available here?

Re: Almond and coconut flour

I searched the 1000+1 website already as I thought it the most likely source. Thanks for the phone number. I will try later today.

Does anyone have the phone number for the other Kalives shop that sells all sorts of goodies from the continent? Its name begins To but I can't remember the rest.

Almond and coconut flour

Since most recipes on the internet for the keto diet are from America, there are many ingredients that are new to me. I am just trying to start a keto diet and my biggest challenge is to avoid the delicious local bread. Does anyone know if there is a supplier of almond or coconut flour locally? Ther...

Re: Sound has gone wrong on my desktop

I "replied" before but it seems I did something wrong so the reply did not get posted!! There were no instructions with the speakers I impulse-bought from Jumbo very cheap! It never occurred to me to plug both jack and USB plugs in and when I followed Warwick's advice, nothing happened. Th...

Sound has gone wrong on my desktop

I had some external speakers that stopped working so that sound came through the comp0uter's internal speakers. The speakers were old so I bought some new ones but they also do not work. The new speakers come with two cables, one with a jack plug and the other with a USB plug. I have tried plugging ...

Re: Frm the BBC

What really annoys me is the way "spokesmen" - oops "spokespersons" - litter their statements with "could be" as in "There could be food shortages" and "Lorry drivers could be trapped on the motorways". If I was a European food producer who currently...

Re: Fish and Chips in Platanias?

I can recommend the fish and chips at the taverna Kilkis mentioned in Chania. Served on a piece of paper and piled high with potato discs rather than chips. The majority of patrons are Greek and the menu is in Greek only.

Re: WHERE EXPATS MEET

You would be welcomed at Anamnisi Coffee shop in Chania (see Google maps) where you will meet not just English people but Greeks as well, all of whom speak English. The coffee is FREE!! although you can make a donation if you want. From time to time we also get visitors from other countries. On Thur...

Help! My Youtube has changed

I am used to the clip display when you first enter YouTube to contain my preferences for Christian Music, Rugby Union, and Motor Racing but today, the clips displayed are totally different and totally irrelevant. I know I can do a search and find clips but it is very useful to have a selection of my...
