Re: Currency Index

Hi, thanks. We have used Transferwise for the deposit as quicker and online but they charge a fee where's Currency Index don't... Every currency exchange company is a business. I do not know of any FX company that acts as a charity. They all charge a "fee" in one way or another. They exis...

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

Everything government does is win-lose. I cannot think of any government action ever, at least in my lifetime, that could be described as win-win. Warwick So when governments form a trade deal between each other you wouldn't class that as a win win? Strange. I think in the case of the EU and the UK...

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

What exactly could an interim PM do to "get tough with the EU"? What leverage does the UK have? What could he/she threaten? The EU has made it crystal clear that they would like to have some sort of deal that protects trade but they will not sacrifice the integrity of the EU and its insti...

It's not and that's why it will be voted down.

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

Now the proposal by Theresa May is dead there should be an interim PM put in place who actually believes in Brexit and has people close who also believe a proper deal can be done! Time to get tough with the EU now.

Re: UK PASSPORTS - INTER-SCHENGEN TRAVEL

The EU has released its press release on preparedness and contingency work in the event of a no deal scenario in the Article 50 negotiations with the United Kingdom. It links to several other documents, one on Travelling between EU-UK and one specifically on Visa Requirements . It has decided to no...

Re: bank account after brexit

Be prepared for long visits to your bank. We bought our land many years ago with the help of our lawyer who had power of attorney to operate our bank account. The problem came when we wanted to do our own online banking which was unbelievably complex and involved several visits as each person we sp...

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

I don't think you can conflate "lazy reporting" with "a source not wishing to be attributed". All journalists try to cultivate sources in a wide range of organisations that they regard as significant. Sometimes those sources are willing to comment on record sometimes off record....

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

A large part of the financial service industries' business is done with the EU, Scooby. For example, in the case of J P Morgan it looks like about one third of their UK business is actually done with the EU. In the event of a no-deal or a deal that does not include passporting for financial service...

JPMorgan Leads $283 Billion Brexit Shift to Frankfurt, says Bloomberg. Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. Not saying it's not true or accurate but I looked at the article and it says several people who say this do not wish to be identified. So why would J P Morgan, who funded the remain side le...
