Re: Dialysis in Crete

Hi, I think I can help. My son has acute renal failure and we have a holiday home near Chania. He used to have to travel to a private dialysis clinic near Heraklion for treatment (3 x 4hrs per week), which due to travelling times made it almost not worthwhile coming for a holiday - http://www.mesoge...

Although slightly left of centre, I enjoy this man's insight into the current events:

Re: Skybox a thing of the past?

Thanks Warwick, but the box was working fine in the UK last Saturday. I've now done a system reset, checked the connections again and I am getting a couple of channels - 520, 521 but none of the Sky Sports or Films that I was getting. Perhaps the dish/LNB wire is getting old and needs replacing? Peter

Re: Skybox a thing of the past?

Well, I brought my SkyHD box and full package Sky card in March and bingo! Everything worked. However, came back last week and now can't receive anything!!! Checked all the settings and connections, all ok. Nothing has moved. Tried a reboot. Nothing. I did briefly get a BT Sport HD trailer crystal c...

Re: Skybox a thing of the past?

Thanks again Steve. I'll bring my spare Sky HD box plus a card and see what happens.

Re: Skybox a thing of the past?

Steve, that is really useful. I too installed a 1.2m dish about 7 years ago and with a new(ish) Sky box got virtually all the channels I subscribed to in the UK with a brilliant picture. Over the years the number of channels and quality of reception have reduced to zero! I now have a good speed inte...

I think this must be Loutraki. Marathi has a double "bay" and has always been quite busy. Loutraki was just as described and very quiet then. A hut, a small gypsy encampment, our family had the beach to themselves. The good news is, I'll be leaving my desk here in the UK soon and be on the...

I have already done this, but thanks for the reminder! I've just "encouraged" 36 others to do the same. Fingers crossed.

That's very helpful thanks. I'm confident that the dish hasn't moved and the cabling/connections are good. I wasn't aware that the FTA channels were available through a dish. My neighbour is getting a multitude of channels via his roof aerial via a new digital receiver. I'll take a Freeview box with...

Next Seasons Flights into Chania

Trying to plan our visits next year and wondering if anyone knows if Ryanair will be flying into Chania from the UK next year? The East Midlands flight was particularly useful!

Having just returned from a 3 weeks holiday at our home in Akrotiri, when friends and family were coming and going, I kept a careful account of what we spent (for once!). This included everything from supermarket shops, to sunbeds and eating/drinking out once every day in local tavernas, with a few ...
