Re: What to expect arriving at Chania airport

Our neighbours arrived from Bristol into Chania last Sunday. They filled in the Passenger Locator Form prior to departure, and on arriving at Chania... ...nothing happened - everything was completely normal apart from showing the PLF QR code. No checks, no delays. The travel advice at https://travel...

Re: For All You Conspiracy Theorists Out There

I began to think about this - VOIP uses UDP, so no buffering etc - then I thought "It's too hot to think, let's use Google!" This https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2778700 led to this https://community.cisco.com/t5/other-collaboration-subjects/repeating-voice/td-p/196261 whether the ...

Re: Weather websites

Jeff - Earth is pretty amazing - I'm currently doing a course on meteorology from Penn State University - Earth will be a fabulous resource for it - thank you! "Windy" was also recommended to me by people in the sailing world - and they really need to know their weather as accurately as po...

Re: Weather websites

I have used many of the above suggestions in the past (Weather underground, Meteo, Accuweather (which I ended up calling InAccuweather)), but I stopped using them because they have been sometimes wildly inaccurate - of course, that might have changed by now. Recently, I've been using Meteoblue for b...

Re: Nothing has changed on here then

There is a handy button on every user profile called "Add Foe". Just click on the username in any post to see their profile page. If you don't want to see someone's posts you can press that button, and you will not see their posts - but you will see a link to press if they have posted in a...

Re: DEH payment

Post Offices are still working and still allowing people to pay bills there, as of yesterday at least. Personally, I am praying for the day when Post Offices follow the Bank's example and stop allowing people to pay bills there. In normal times, our PO is rammed with people paying bills - these days...

Re: New Coronavirus

... The real reason I made this post is that a private coach company was used to ferry the ex-pats from Brize Norton, where they landed, to a hospital in the Wirral, where they will be quarantined for 14 days. The name of the company was emblazoned across the front and sides of the coaches. That na...

Re: UK TV,LIVE & CATCHUP

Hello everybody! Long time no see! Now that a year has gone by since the last comments on this thread, I thought I'd resurrect it to ask if there are any new developments on the TV catchup scene. I have seen that My Private Network has merged with Le VPN since the last comment - does anyone have any...

Around about 2011 (I think), it became 6 months, and then it became 3 months with little notice - hence I lost my number and about 20 quid.

Re: A serious Question

A serious question deserves a serious answer. But unfortunately we don't know the parameters of Brexit yet, so whatever preparations we make, we can't know for sure if they have been worth it. Sadly, it looks like the only real way of assessing the worth of those preparations will be in hindsight. R...

Re: moving to crete after Brexit?

This is crazy. Yes, it is. As far as I can tell, from what I know of how things go, (someone will correct me if I'm wrong - and ignoring any speculation about Brexit outcomes/extensions/cancellations) your only hope would be to get a residency permit as soon as possible - ( Info at this link ), whi...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Did they say where the delay was? ... As far as I can tell there is only one machine and one person doing this ... Warwick It might be something to do with that poor chap/lady being snowed under by applications from Brits trying to change their license. ...Just maybe... I am now hoping for an exten...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

I believe that the IDP issued by the RAC is not the correct version for Greece. There are two conventions as discussed earlier in the thread. The UK is a signatory to the convention under which IDPs are issued for Spain, for example, but will not be a signatory to the one suitable for Greece until ...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

I have just had a search online Phil and only found conflicting information on the Ministry website, but it looks like the 185 days may be the latest info, I'm afraid. The English version is here http://www.yme.gr/index.php?getwhat=1&oid=537&id=&tid=537 ...and even the English version a...
