Re: Housesitter available throughout the winter

Old Codger, we used to to housesit all over Chania prefecture - from Kissamos to Vrisses, though mostly in Apokoronos, constantly for about four years or so. We now rent in Chania itself. Our sits all came through word of mouth, and by the time we stopped doing them, we had a 'clientele' of about a ...

Yes, there is. I use a prepaid card, and some banks are now charging for ATM withdrawals. No charge at the Bank of Chania....yet!

Re: Piraeus Bank ATM Withdrawal Charge

Yes, this happened to a couple of my Caxton card withdrawals back in February - I think it was a blip then because the charges were refunded, and at that time, at no point did the ATM 'tell' me it there was to be a charge. This is different, but it does seem ATM withdrawal charges are in force at so...

Re: Dentists in Chania/Apokoronas

I can recommend Dimitris Railakis, at 5 Alex. Papanastasiou St., just off the courthouse square in Chania. I don't know the full extent of his facilities, but he is used by me and friends here in Chania. He trained in UK, and speaks good English. Tel. +30 28210 45600 Mob. +30 6972 565567 email drail...

Re: ATM withdrawal charges for prepaid cards

Hi just a quick question , personally I use Smart Currency ( rate always seems pretty keen to me )and send it to my Euro Bank account for Euro's and the intention was to carry on when we move over later this year . The Caxton card what are the advantages of that over just using a a currency broker ...

Re: ATM withdrawal charges for prepaid cards

Thank you for the replies. I'll try the Piraeus bank next time, and then check my balance again. As I said, I've been using this prepaid card for a few years here now, and in a variety of banks around Chania, and never been charged a transaction fee, so something has definitely changed recently. Th...

Re: ATM withdrawal charges for prepaid cards

I have had one for around 10 years and have never been charged for a withdrawal. I've never been charged before either, hence I'm thinking this is a very recent thing. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this, or if one knows of a change of Greek banking policy. I'm in Chania, so I can t...

ATM withdrawal charges for prepaid cards

Apologies if this has been raised before - I had a wee look through the forum, and elsewhere, but couldn't find any more information on this. I use a prepaid card (Caxton) for withdrawals here (have done for a few years), and have until very recently not been charged for ATM withdrawals. It seems I ...

I picked a friend up at Chania Airport last night, and three flights had just arrived. Passengers on the Aegean from Athens, and the Ryanair from Pisa both came through Domestic, whilst the Easyjet from Gatwick came through International. So, it would seem they do utilise both belts when necessary.
