Re: Highway Roadworks near Aptera

Out of curiosity could someone pinpoint exactly where the hold up is? Between the small Souda junction and the Aptera junction, between the Aptera junction and the Kalami junction, between the Kalami junction and the Armenoi junction? I don't normally travel east of Chania but I have friends staying...

There is a Michail Zografakis at 25 Andreas Papandeou St which I think is just about opposite Body Shop.

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

Peebee tried to edit his post, Filippos, but instead of hitting the edit control, a pencil, he hit the quote control by mistake. If you look at the post above yours, where he appears to quote himself without adding anything, he has actually changed Virus to X-file. Confused? You won't be, after this...

Re: Currency Transfers, possible problems.

I've just experienced a slow transfer for the first time. Currency Fair to Alpha Bank. Sent on 18 April and due to arrive on 19 April but didn't arrive until 23 April and not showing on online banking until today, 24 April. Purely by chance I spotted a notice on the Alpha Bank web site saying that b...

Re: Satalite?

A bit of explanation on Bob's and Tweet Tweet's posts about satellite beams and VPNs. Broadcasters like the BBC, ITV etc transmit some content to which they own the copyright and some content that they don't. In the latter case they purchase the right to transmit that content but only in the UK. Oth...

Re: Satalite?

I don't think you will get BBC1 on a satellite here. I certainly never did. Most people use Internet streaming services of one sort or another.

Re: We have moved in!

A tax residency certificate is a certificate from HMRC to prove to the Greek tax authorities that you are remaining tax resident in the UK so you are not liable for tax in Greece, except on any income that arises in Greece. You will probably need to get an Apostille Stamp on the certificate so make ...

Re: European flag

Why would you need to speak German? The EU anthem is the prelude to Beethoven's 9th Symphony. While the symphony itself is a choral work, based on Schiller's poem and as such was written in German, the EU anthem has no words . From the official European Union web site : There are no words to the ant...

Re: Cancelling bank direct debit

Can you not do it with online banking? I am pretty sure I can set up a direct debit online so I would have thought it should be possible to cancel one online as well?

Re: Cosmote internet router problem

I don't have your disconnect problem but I can explain the phone problem. With the old router the phone made a direct connection to the old style tone dialling phone system through a filter. Effectively the bottom few kHz of the bandwidth was permanently allocated to the phone. The phone was powered...

Re: Health Insurance/IKA

If you look at this thread you will see in a post about 5 down by Carol saying that a new law was passed in 2016 that provides basic healthcare even if you don't have insurance. Prior to that law you only qualified for healthcare if you were contributing to an insurance scheme, either private or EFK...

This one does keys. I've no idea if he also does shoe laces but I guess you could phone and ask. There are lots of others you could also try.
