Re: The Will of the People

Any nation state has a range of options in how it trades with other nation states. The choice is completely free but each choice comes with consequences. Making a particular choice but expecting not to endure the consequences is madness: 1 You can opt to be a closed country and not trade at all with...

Re: The Will of the People

I would agree that Dominic Raab gave a very good interview on Sophie Ridge as did Dominic Grieve, i.e. from the opposite side. Both were very straightforward. Neither equivocated in any way. You still have to be careful when evaluating these interviews if you do not then try to independently verify ...

Re: Face Card

The 400 minutes for €6.35 is good value provided you use them all. If you talked for that long on Skype dial up it would cost you more. I think the longest you can talk on a single Skype dial up call is 60 minutes so you would have to make at least 6 calls to use 400 minutes. That would cost you jus...

Re: Face Card

Called International Destination Packs. €6.35 per month for 400 minutes to landlines and 100 minutes to mobiles in the UK. It excludes premium rate numbers as you would expect.

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

Unfortunately Warwick, Turkey have changed the visa rules recently and we had to get E-Visa @€20 each but it took 5 minutes over the net. I ignored the Turkey part, Mackie, since that was just a side visit. I assumed Guy was interested in the main route from Greece to the UK and my comment was addr...

Re: The Will of the People

Ignore him, Bob. He's just drunk too much raki at lunchtime. I'm amazed he's still awake.

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

No Visa problems at the moment Guy. All the countries Mackie passed through are in the EU.

How good a car do you judge you need to set off on a 2,000 mile journey? Personally I would want something not too old and pretty reliable.

Re: Face Card

Not really. The descriptions of Skype to Go that I have read are made assuming that you are in the UK but I suppose they might work in other countries. As I understand it, viewed from the UK end, Skype to Go creates a UK landline number that is linked to a single number abroad, e.g. a relative. You ...

Re: Face Card

...It helps when you are trying to call someone who is totally technically inept, i.e the in laws.. then it's easier. There is absolutely no difference in the technical difficulty. If you are using Facecard then they have to be technically savvy enough to pick up the phone when it rings? The same i...

Re: Face Card

I tend to use Skype for landline calls abroad. You can load credit with a credit/debit card and, unlike Facecard, it doesn't expire. The worst that happens is it goes dormant if you don't use it at all for a long time but you can revive it. Just dial the number on a virtual keypad on Skype. You can ...

Re: The Will of the People

I think it is a bit of a stretch to say the government "is preparing" for a move to WTO rules. They have issued a lot of analysis papers explaining what the consequences would be but they don't seem to have done very much practically to avoid those consequences or mitigate against their ef...

Re: The Will of the People

You are correct that they do not have a crystal ball, Scooby but they do have a memory. Their predictions are based on what actually happened in their area when Operation Stack was implemented on a number of occasions in recent history. It was implemented then for reasons not related to Brexit but i...

Re: The Will of the People

The problem is, Scooby, you can't have it both ways. If moving from completely free trade, which we have with the EU now, to trade with quotas, tariffs and customs checks, which is what a no-deal means, only has a 0.17% annual negative impact on GDP, according to open Europe, how can moving from hav...

I think that the main offices is in Agios Nikolaos at Θερίσου 3 phone 28410-22153. There may be other offices but I would enquire there first.

Re: The Will of the People

Good to see that you still pop in from time to time, Ray, to see what the monkeys are up to and to throw in the odd banana to watch them scrap over it. I hope you are keeping well. I have to admit that the article that you linked together with the one referenced by Brian on another thread did give m...
