Re: S1 and AMKA

A lot of lawyers and notaries are authorised to do official translations. If you have a lawyer or an accountant I am sure they will be able to arrange it or give you a contact. The tax office frequently asks for documents to be translated into Greek so accountants always know somebody who can do it....

Re: S1 and AMKA

I should probably add an afterthought. Usually it is better to take anything that you might conceivably need. If you do need it you have got it and if you don't then no harm done. In this case it isn't as clear cut. Getting an Apostille stamp on a birth certificate costs money. Getting a translation...

Re: S1 and AMKA

I think it must be a relatively new requirement. A couple I know registered an S1 covering them both back in late 2019. The wife is a dependent on the husband as she is not old enough to qualify for an S1 in her own right. They already had AMKA numbers. They were not asked for a marriage certificate...

Re: S1 and AMKA

My friend did. KEP didn't need it to issue the AMKA number. It was EFKA that required it as well as the AMKA number.

Re: S1 and AMKA

A friend of mine registered an S1 form just before the end of 2020. He was told he had to get an AMKA number first. Fortunately he had a blue EU residence certificate at the time so KEP did issue him with an AMKA number. I am not sure how you can break the Catch 22 situation. I would try asking KEP ...

Re: Driving licences

... I do not think a Greek licence would qualify in the UK as they obtain theirs through grandfather rights and may not have to take a test. I am not quite sure what that means. A Greek licence is recognised in the UK but you are only entitled to drive whatever it says on your licence. Greece uses ...

Re: Driving licences

I don't think that 2 months was enshrined in any specific rule, although I could be wrong. When the UK was in the EU anybody who was in Greece for more than 3 months was legally obliged to have a residence permit, although it wasn't rigorously enforced. I suspect that they asked you to sign a legal ...

Re: Driving licences

...The initial government advice pre BREXIT was that a uk driving licence with an IDP would be acceptable in Greece. This advice has now changed to say that an IDP is not required but this is in relation to visitors not those resident in Greece... This is correct but be careful. Some EU countries r...

Re: Driving licences

I can't be absolutely certain but I think it is an international rule, not just an EU rule, that you are supposed to have a driving licence issued by the country where you live and countries are not supposed to issue licences to anybody who does not live there. I also think that the EU has agreed to...

Alpha Bank Scam

Watch out for a text message apparently from Alpha Bank about your security code. I am pretty sure it is a scam. There is a link at the end of the text that has "alphab" in the URL while alpha bank is just "alpha". Don't follow the link. It is not a secure web site and could stea...

Re: Biometric Card - Random Info

I am not sure that the certificate indicates that the submission was "successful"? It reads: This certificate is issued on the basis of the provisions of article 4 of no. 4000/1/113-α'Κ.Υ.Α. The above has submitted the supporting documents for the issuance of the Residence Permit of paragr...

Re: Baking Question

The suet I used to buy in the UK was always from beef although I have used a vegetarian variety. The lard I got from Jon the Butcher is pork lard, which I think is the most common type. I think most butchers would give you the fat from round the kidneys if they have it since they would normally trim...

Re: Help with residency status

If you store things and somebody asks for them then you haven't got a problem. If you don't store them and somebody asks for them then you might have a problem. I'm a hoarder. In the days when keeping receipts was required I had 3 tax audits in different years for various reasons. In each case I had...
