Re: Camera on my desktop

If you open up Skype you should see a left hand panel with your Skype name at the top. Just to the right of your name are three little dots. Left click on those and you get a small drop down menu. The first item is "Settings". Left click on that and you should get a pop-up panel divided in...

Re: The Will of the People

An additional thought on the CTA. I'm not an expert on the CTA but my understanding is that in the almost 100 years since it was first started the VISA policies of the UK and the Republic of Ireland have evolved together. While I wouldn't suggest that they are identical they are probably equivalent....

Re: The Will of the People

...yes every deal proposed leaves the UK (and the EU) worse off, but only regarding the EU. The UK could be better off as a whole being able to strike it's own trade deals worldwide. My highlight in red. Notice that your first verb is unconditional, i.e. that is what will happen, while your second ...

Re: The Will of the People

...So if the uk said that they will not put a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland would the EU do it? I doubt it. I think it would need to be a mutually implemented border. In the old days there used to be two borders. You passed through one control when you left one country and then t...

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

The Green Card is proof of insurance cover. An IDP is about recognition of driving licences, or rather overcoming lack of recognition.

Re: The Will of the People

...Doesn't quite answer the original question, so we have checks on goods, but surely people can move freely under CTA? The EU is only concerned about its own borders. The CTA pre-dated the EU by a long way althouhg it has had its ups and downs in the intervening period. By giving the UK and the Re...

Re: The Will of the People

Is a hard border in Ireland for checks on goods or people or is it both?... The problem is mainly goods. It's easiest to think in terms of concrete examples. Most countries want to impose regulations that goods must meet before they can be sold. It's a choice, there is no god given commandment that...

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

The EU has stated that it does not intend to make UK citizens get a Visa in order to visit EU countries, which is what you are doing if you are driving through them to get back to the UK or from the UK to Greece. As far as I know this decision is independent of what the final form of Brexit is. When...

Re: The Will of the People

Another issue is the complete lack of logic amongst politicians. Two examples: 1 The UK wants to take back control of its border. Nothing wrong with that. A perfectly reasonable aspiration. But if it is reasonable for the UK to want to take back control of its border it must also be reasonable for t...

This morning my desktop PC reverted to normal, going into and waking from sleep mode correctly several times. This evening it has gone back to shutting down mode.

Re: The Will of the People

Most of the people commenting on TV are people with a position. They want no-deal, they want another vote, they want to remain etc. Everything they say is simply a narrative that they think will convince others to their opinion. Those narratives have little if any connection with reality. The UK cur...

Re: The Will of the People

The problem, Maud, is that people in positions of authority are still making statements today that are untrue but voters will still believe whichever statements support their own view. Often they carefully craft words to imply they will do something when they know they cannot do that. As an example ...

Hi Paul

As an experiment I sent an SMS to my son in the UK from my Greek Vodafone mobile. He never received it so it looks like there is a general problem.

Re: Post from the UK

Correct, Andrew. As far as I can tell ELTA does not work Saturdays and Sundays at all, not even back room services. I mentioned it because the UK postal service does work Saturdays and Sundays in the period leading up to Christmas so anybody not actually living in Greece might not realise this, espe...
