Re: Tax Return

I've not had contact with mine yet as I am still waiting for some certificates of income before I send him the figures for 2020. I would guess that even if there wasn't a problem the deadline would be the end of June at the earliest so there is certainly no need to rush. Typically I send him the inf...

Re: Anyone exited about starlink internet?

I think that "OTE Rural" refers to Cosmote's programme of rolling out fibre to villages. Before installing the steel box, were they digging a narrow channel in the road? The steel box is probably an FTTC cabinet containing the fibre DSLAM equipment. Your landline connects into a DSLAM in t...

Re: Temporary AMKA for vaccine

I had a blue certificate and the handwritten number was of the format 1234/123/1.2, obviously not the actual digits, which looks like a reference to a paragraph in some Greek law. Also it is titled Protocol Number which suggests a reference to part of a Greek law. The printed one is just a six digit...

Re: Anyone exited about starlink internet?

Jeffstclair, does OTE Rural require a telephone line? There are (were?) two systems: Cosmote Booster is for where you have a landline but it is not capable of providing reasonable broadband speeds. You get a modified version of the landline modem/router which has the capability to install a SIM. Yo...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

They did ask me if I was/recently had been suffering from fever or any other illness at all as part of the screening. People who have had COVID are recommended to still get vaccinated, e.g. Johnson received his. I would guess that they don't want to administer the vaccine if you are currently feelin...

Re: Garden Equipment Rental

There used to be an equipment hire shop in Chania but it closed down. They had very little and it was all ridiculously expensive. Strangely enough HSS has branches in Athens and Thessaloniki. I am not sure if they would send stuff to Crete, e.g. put it on a ferry for you to collect, but there is an ...

Re: Temporary AMKA for vaccine

As far as I can tell the printed number next to the letters No. is a sequence number. The handwritten number next to the letters Αρ.Πρωτ. is the number of the protocol under which the certificate is issued. I would suggest that the sequence number is the correct one to use but I can't guarantee it. ...

Re: Anyone exited about starlink internet?

...The vodofone abbo's that say unlimited are really unlimited. The 1Mbit after 70GB is about most other providers who claim unlimited but have a cap... Are you sure that Vodafone haven't buried a cap followed by reduced speed somewhere in the fair usage policy? That seems to be a pretty common tec...

Re: S1 and AMKA

You pretty much need a tax number, ΑΦΜ, here to do anything, e.g. rent/own property, open a bank account, have a landline/broadband, have a Greek mobile telephone etc. It is possible to exist without one but it is difficult. Once you have a tax number then you are supposed to do an annual tax return...

Re: S1 and AMKA

A lot of lawyers and notaries are authorised to do official translations. If you have a lawyer or an accountant I am sure they will be able to arrange it or give you a contact. The tax office frequently asks for documents to be translated into Greek so accountants always know somebody who can do it....

Re: S1 and AMKA

I should probably add an afterthought. Usually it is better to take anything that you might conceivably need. If you do need it you have got it and if you don't then no harm done. In this case it isn't as clear cut. Getting an Apostille stamp on a birth certificate costs money. Getting a translation...

Re: S1 and AMKA

I think it must be a relatively new requirement. A couple I know registered an S1 covering them both back in late 2019. The wife is a dependent on the husband as she is not old enough to qualify for an S1 in her own right. They already had AMKA numbers. They were not asked for a marriage certificate...

Re: S1 and AMKA

My friend did. KEP didn't need it to issue the AMKA number. It was EFKA that required it as well as the AMKA number.

Re: S1 and AMKA

A friend of mine registered an S1 form just before the end of 2020. He was told he had to get an AMKA number first. Fortunately he had a blue EU residence certificate at the time so KEP did issue him with an AMKA number. I am not sure how you can break the Catch 22 situation. I would try asking KEP ...
