Re: Booster COVID Vaccination

Where people had all their vaccinations in the UK the QR code is accepted by the Greek scanning App. I think your lack of recognition is due to the fact that your NHS QR code will show you as having only 1 vaccination and your Greek QR code probably only shows your original 2. Have you tried downloa...

Re: KEP

I suppose if you look at it from the point of view of a Greek driver, Bob, the need for a test by an audiologist does make sense. Hearing does degrade with age and if your hearing is so impaired that you cannot hear the horn of the car behind you how will you know when to drive away from traffic lig...

Re: Le VPN

It looks like UnblockMyTelly have added some features. When I used it I think the only way to connect was using the built in Windows VPN connection tool, e.g. see this tutorial . At least that is how I connected. I would guess that anybody using this method will be affected by the current Windows up...

Re: alternative to Kindle

Generally Amazon use propriety formats that are not compatible directly with many other e-book readers, which normally use the EPUB format. Some newer e-book readers actually run a normal Android operating system. Unless it is restricted in some way this means that you can download the Amazon Kindle...

Re: KEP

Thanks for the update, Lynn. If I don't get a reply to my EFKA enquiry then I might let KEP do the health update this year.

...Reinforces my view that if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The main reasons for Windows updates are that it is "broke". In some ways Windows is always "broke". In some cases they have identified a security flaw that someone could exploit and they have developed a patch to fix i...

Re: Greek Driving Licence renewal 2022

It is always possible that the rules have changed BUT as far as I can tell some doctors have no interest in performing these medicals because they only get €10. I believe that Maria Christoferatou wasn't stopped from doing these medicals by some government authority, she simply gave up doing them. I...

Re: Greek Driving Licence renewal 2022

There is certainly a list of approved doctors who can do the basic medical and approved ophthalmologists who can do the eye test. KEP in Vamvakopoulou have copies of the list on a wall stand along with other documents. I can also confirm that not every doctor and ophthalmologists can do this test. T...

Re: Can I buy water somewhere?

Typically I use about 2 l of drinking water per day. I don't think I would want my drinking water sat around in a plastic bulk container for 500 days? I had my tap water tested when I moved to Crete because I was considering fitting a water softener. They also did a test for contaminants, even thoug...

Re: KEP

It was like that in Chania when I arrived at the door but shortly afterwards the security person vanished and anybody just wandered in and out. I presume she went to get her tyropita and frappé?

Re: KEP

I don't think that you can assume all offices will operate in the same way, Mike. Last year in Chania we still had to attend in person and we had to make an online appointment to do it. If the whole of EFKA had determined to renew automatically this year I think I would have got a direct response to...

...We also want to renew our IKA healthcare. Under current Covid regulations do we have to make an appointment or can we just turn up? I've sent an enquiry to EFKA to ask what the situation is this year and I am awaiting a reply. Specifically I asked if we need to attend the EFKA office in person o...

Re: Le VPN

As discussed in the link posted by Kamisiana, it is not affecting all VPNs. I do have the Windows 10 version of the update installed, KB5009543, and NordVPN is still working. It uses its own App rather than the Windows client, which fits with the description in the article. Years ago I used S4UVPNSu...

Re: KEP

For some obscure reason that I don't understand I had to get a certificate from a psychiatrist, plus umpteen other specialists, when I received my Greek pension. He obviously wasn't very good because I passed. If he's on the approved list I'll use him when I reach 80. I was told by KEP that they can...
