Re: "Your connection is not private" on Mac

If I go onto the AADE.gr web site using Firefox on Windows 10 Pro, I find that uBlock Origin reports that it has blocked 15 links and Privacy Badger reports 7 potential trackers blocked. Chrome on Windows 10 Pro doesn't object to connecting at all, although I haven't installed any third party blocke...

Re: Best company for electricity?

According to ekathimerini it looks like the energy regulator is trying to do something about the complexity of electricity supply contracts and hidden clauses. From the article: Suppliers will have three categories of standardized rates to offer: Fixed-rate contracts bearing the sign “zero risk,” fl...

Re: Ship from Mexico at Souda 14-16 Oct

A friend of mine did a 28 day cruise across the Atlantic from Antigua to Italy on a similar ship in the Star Clipper fleet. They really are beautiful and she has a large artist's print of the ship in full sail on her living room wall. Although the boat has an engine the captain was a sailing freak a...

Re: KILKIS - INFAMY, INFAMY they have it infamy ...

I’ve always had a fondness for Mark Twain quotes...” I agree and, of course, not forgetting those attributed to him that he never said/wrote. I think you can find quotes that resonate with you even from unlikely sources. I am not a fan of Ronald Reagan or Reaganomics but he did make one quote that ...

Re: Best company for electricity?

...Unless you buy from a company that actually produces electricity? I agree BUT it does depend on how they produce it. In Norway, for example, a huge percentage of the electricity, over 90 %, is hydroelectric power. That is effectively solar energy acquired through rainfall. In that case as long a...

Re: Best company for electricity?

A small point but note that the fixed fee of €0.50 quoted is for 1 month, i.e. €2 for a 4 month period. If you Γ1 tariff is for a single phase supply your current fixed fee is €1.69 for a 4 month period so you actually lose €0.31 on that. Not significant but not a saving. If you have a 3 phase suppl...

In case it helps people searching for alternative suppliers, Mytilineos, mentioned as the biggest alternative supplier in Mouche's post, is a conglomerate active in many areas of heavy engineering. Its energy section trades under the brand Protergia.

Re: UK Virgin Sim

You should have received SMS messages from Virgin telling you that your SIM would no longer work after 1 October and that you needed to get a new SIM. To do that you need to dial 789. Whether 789 still works I have no idea. Also if you managed to get a new SIM it would need to be activated in the UK...

As Mark Twain wrote after he was contacted by a reporter from the New York Journal to enquire if rumours that he was seriously ill or had even died were true: "The report of my death was an exaggeration." To be fair some days it feels like I have. If I had it would not affect the operation...

Re: Best company for electricity?

Basically there is one distribution network for electricity, i.e. it is a monopoly. There are a very limited number of electricity generators feeding into that network, completely dominated by DEI, i.e it is a pseudo monopoly or at best an oligopoly. There are a relatively large number of players of...

Re: Booster COVID Vaccination

I wasn't implying that the advice to use the health centre in Vamos was wrong, Margarita, just trying to broaden out the advice for those who might be in the same position but don't live in the Apokoronas area. I would guess that everybody's local pharmacy will know which centres are administering w...

Re: Booster COVID Vaccination

Three thoughts, Kamisiana: 1 Some people spend part of their life in Greece and part in the UK but COVID very much limited our ability to move. I haven't been back to the UK for two years now and it will probably be at least 6 months before I do. I would imaging Phil was vaccinated in the UK because...
