Re: Transporting my Dog back to the uk!

I'm pretty sure that Cretan animal Protection, who are a rescue, also transport non rescue dogs from the Elounda/ Agios region. They use the vets previously mentioned for the paperwork. .They are on facebook.

Re: Life with a pacemaker

You would be fine bobscott. :) . Most replacement joints are fine in the scanner after they have been in place for about 6 weeks. After this time, they are pretty firmly embedded. More problematic is metal which has entered the body by accident, for example a splinter of metal in the eye from weldin...

Re: Life with a pacemaker

Yes Warwick, the magnetic field is on at all times. When the magnet is "working," gradients switch on and off to capture the images (as I'm sure you know). The only way to get rid of the field is to quench the magnet (Happened to us by accident) ,which releases the Helium this is a dangero...

Re: Life with a pacemaker

Someone with a pacemaker shouldn't even be in the outer room next to where the scanner is (it is always producing the Magnetic field, even when not "Working" ). However we did have an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair brought down from a ward, who suddenly "Remembered" That he ha...

It's 3 years since I left my job in the X Ray department, but unless things have changed, you won't be able to go into the MRI scanner. x

Re: Canine cataract surgery

Hi, have just spoken to my vet. As far as he is aware, the only Vet who offers this is in Athens (affiliated to the University). He is an expert in his field, and charges 600/700 euros per eye. Of course things could be different in the west of the island. x

Re: Ikea Heraklion

Hi, yes you have to go to the Ikea shop (just down the road from the airport) and order. They will ring you in 5 days to tell you that your things have arrived, you can then go and collect. I usually select my things from the English web site, and write down the name of the item. The staff are reall...

Costings

Hi all, any thoughts on whether you think that an electric Halogen heater, or a Calor gas fire would be cheaper to run? We have a Wood burner, but would like to know which of the above would be more economical to run for short periods, such as not wanting to light the wood burner if we were going ou...

Hi, not sure if you have Ariadne supermarkets at your end of the island, but if so, they usually have them. Also, every so often Lidl have them in, usually in packs of 2. Have even seen them in our local Euro shop. x

Re: mirroring to TV.

As always, thanks for your help folks. I have been in touch with my VPN provider, and the chromecast/ firestick idea is a no go. So I am going to try the I pad Lead. (No offense taken Andrew, it is a proper I pad mini. :) ) Grateful for this advice, as when I looked on google it lead me to believe t...
