Re: Where are we allowed to go shopping?

Many things in life are complicated. If there is a need for easy reading try the Mail or Express.

Re: Road Tax 2021

Just for information, I downloaded the document with the reference on from the tax website as a .pdf. Then I went to my Pancretan account website and simply copied and pasted the reference from the .pdf to a text editor, removed the spaces, then copied into the dialogue box. I was pleasantly (and ge...

Re: WIFI calling ...

I've used an app called ZoiPer on the mobile in conjunction with a UK service called VoipTalk for several years. Various charging levels from Pay as You Go to monthly charges for higher service levels. Pay as You Go suits me.

I can only say that it has worked well for me.

Re: 14 Day Quarantine - Arrivals Greece

I have tickets on scheduled airlines; UK to Athens followed immediately by Athens to Chania.

Has anyone any thoughts on how self-isolation would work for me?

Would I be allowed to transfer as usual in Athens, and self-isolate in Crete?

Re: Mobile phone scam

A few weeks ago I visited the Germanos shop in Souda to obtain information on the lowest cost Cosmote pay-as-you-go tariff. They quoted me a silly high price, which I mentally binned. Subsequently, I was told by a third party that I should have gone to a Cosmote outlet, because they will offer lower...

Re: The Will of the People

The famous bus displayed the following words: "We send the EU £350 million a week let's fund our NHS instead" The verb "send" is reasonably clear in meaning. The verb "fund" led to definitions such as "When a person or organization funds something, they provide mon...

Re: OTE Landline contracts

I had a telephone call after 2 years of the contract. I was offered a renewal at slightly less than I had been paying. I accepted the offer there and then. That was it, the contract was renewed without further ado. No forms, just a verbal acceptance during the same call. Suits me!

Re: The Will of the People

The article is headed "... Custom Controls ...", and then comments on movement of goods and people.
It seems to me to be remarkably contemporary for a pre-referendum article!

Re: money transfer

I've done a number of transfers using TransferWise. Analysis after the event shows that the actual rate I've got has been about 0.5% below the rate shown on Yahoo Finance. My calculation is always actual euros received divided by actual pounds paid. None of the other transfers I've made over the yea...

Re: "Smart" TV

Thanks for the comments and the links Warwick.

I have had a look at both Chromecast and Roku, and the latter seems a more practical approach. Especially if I can get a UK VPN set up to go with it.

Re: "Smart" TV

I've had a brief look at Chromecast it's not clear what the advantage is over a computer/TV combination. (apart from the wireless connection perhaps). Any Chromecast users out there who could enlighten me as to what else it provides? (preferably from first-hand experience!)
