Re: Private Cataract Surgery

Wifey had hers done at the end of last year, it included corrective lenses as she has worn contact lenses for over 50 years, doesn't need them now, eyes went from -11 down to -1. All done privately and cost was €750 per eye, and she could then read TV subtitles, without glasses, the same evening. Dr...

Re: Backup Storage

Many years ago, I had a bit of file maintenance software that contained a "move" command but that expired with, I think, Windows 3.1 or maybe it was DOS and didn't work with Windows, It also allowed two instances of the file directories being displayed side-by-side tp make the move easier...

..."Crete beer is like pee"... Got to agree with that. I've seen the laboratory analysis report and it said that "This horse is fit for no further work". Warwick Really ? I think the Charma lager is pretty bland, but the pale ale is extremely nice, reminds me of a certain brew f...

Re: How Bad Is The Greek Tax System?

From the article. it reads as though it will apply to pensioners, moving to Greece in the future, not to those already living here. Being tax resident in Greece, it doesn't affect me. If your income is £12,500 or less, you would pay nothing as a UK tax resident, but under the 7% Greek `offer' you w...

Re: Double glazing

We have decided that before next winter we need to replace our wooden doors/windows with shuttered double glazed units. Can anyone recommend someone who can build and fit double glazing doors and windows? Although I do speak some Greek some command of English would be useful for when dealing with s...

Re: Weather websites

Accuweather (which I ended up calling InAccuweather) Same here - always seemed to be waaay off. If you can be bothered, make a simple chart, check each forecast daily for a week or 2 and mark each site on a scale of 1-10 to test their accuracy. Don't bother trying that July/August as they will all ...

Re: Allergy/Pollen Count

Almost all the Avocados on sale in the Heraklion area have signs saying they're from Chania, Crete. I haven't seen any on sale from Israel. I actually prefer the ones that aren't from Crete, I find them rock hard, and they tend not to ripen very well. Quite likely from one of my friends' `garden' -...
