Re: Hotels for Christmas.

Why an all inclusive package ?
You are very unlikely to find one out of season, tell them to get out to the local bars/tavernas, they will find better hospitality, and almost certainly better food and drink.

Just had this advice from a neighbour ,drill a few large holes in the top of the stump downwards and pour old engne oil in ,keep reflling.Think I might try this! Get a tin can and make a small hole in the base. Fill with the old oil and sit on top of stump, and let it drip. You might need to put a ...

Avoid EuroNet (blue and yellow ones) unless you want to pay through the nose.

Would be a bit dubious about burning it and breathing in the smoke, as it is poisonous.

Re: Renting with pets

We haven't really settled on an area yet. When we visited in March we drove around Chania, Souda, Kissamos, coastal and inland. This time we are going to look at Sissi, Heraklion and Rethymno. We prefer quiet countryside rather than beach but we usual look for anything that reduces the risk of our ...

Re: Renting with pets

Hi Lorraine, where are you thinking of renting. Most agents will know if pets are allowed, we have rented 2 properties in the last 9 years and brought 5 cats from the UK, so there are plenty that do allow pets.

Re: Car purchase

Never done one privately, but you could ask at the KEP office.
Alternatively, Sophia in 1000+1 in Kalyves can do it for you, for a fee.

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

p.s. Scooby is not living on Crete any more, which may have had the effect of him not following much of the bitching on here. A bit inflammatory? Remember, in the words of the song, 'One man's bitch is another man's daughter'. Bob. Bob, Cambridge dictionary definition of bitching `to complain and m...

Re: MECHANICAL DIGGER?

Ok,typical of Greek bureocracy is it not.thankyou for your help The reason for it is, because of all the archaeology on the island, they don't want people just digging holes everywhere. if you find anything, you have to inform the authorities. Licensed users will have to do so, or risk losing their...

Re: MECHANICAL DIGGER?

Unless the rules have changed, you cannot hire a digger, the operator has to be licensed. You may be able to hire someone to do it for you.

What is this abyss . . . is it the falling off a cliff and car crash scenario that project fear keep banging on about, and the remainers say is a fact ? p.s. Scooby is not living on Crete any more, which may have had the effect of him not...

Re: Driving

Try going out very early in the morning when there is not much around. Remember to keep the white line on the drivers side (unless you are in a RHD car :-)). Go anti-clockwise at the roundabouts, should you come across one. Treat left hand turns as you would right hand turns in the UK and vice versa...

If you mean OPPOSITE what used to be `the old bakery', then yes. On the corner by the entrance to the car park on the front.
