Re: Driving Licences

Shortly after that there are some gates into a compound on the right. That is the driving centre. I think the office that deals with driving licences is in the building that faces the road to the right of the gate. Warwick Yes, it's the building on your right as you enter the gates - there's a pict...

Re: Care in Crete

An update from Care in Crete :- Perhaps you know someone or have a neighbour who lives alone here in Crete? They may have come here with their spouse who has since passed away, or simply chosen to move here alone… Perhaps you yourself live alone here in Crete? Although Care in Crete is still in its...

Re: Driving Licences

I just updated this page, last week, with the info. http://www.livingincrete.net/drivingincrete.html I have just done mine in Chania, I have the pink card licence and they didn't ask for a translation. You now get to keep your UK licence until the Greek one is ready to collect. Go to KEP first to ge...

Re: Orthodontist

I can't remember exactly, and it was about 15 years ago, but I think it was in the region of 3000 euros back then. It could actually be cheaper now than it was back then due to the Greek economic crisis! Maybe someone else will comment with more up to date info. The good news is that treatment gener...

Re: EHIC for Pensioners

I'm not sure Warwick, I think it comes from a lot of unclear information, in fact this on the Gov.uk site may be the actual source of this rumour; - See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-greece#healthcare which says ' Once you are resident in Greece, you should apply for a Greek EHIC at your loc...

EHIC for Pensioners

If you are receiving a UK state pension and have a Greek IKA / EOPPY health book via an S1 form , where do you get your EHIC card from for travel? Do the UK still issue them for you? I am hearing reports that people are now being told by the UK to apply to IKA / EOPPY for their EHIC, yet IKA won't i...

Re: A serious Question

How best can we prepare for the high probability of a no deal Brexit? There is no way we would give up on our dream of living in Crete now that we finally got our home right and are much happier living here. We are not of retirement age and still pay tax heavily in the UK (we can easily change that...

Departing/Entering Greece After Brexit

It is now quite clear (grrrrr) that any Brexit deal is going to end Freedom of Movement, unless some miracle happens. IF your travel overlaps the 29th March 2019 (or even just from now on) you should TAKE your Registration or Residence Certificate WITH YOU when you travel IN CASE we leave without a ...
