No sound on computer, linked television

We have a twelve year old Philips television which we only use whilst linked to a seven year old Toshiba computer. This has worked well for seven years, but recently the sound is no longer working on the TV. We have to use the sound from the computer, which is not good. Does anyone know how to get t...

where can I find?

Can anyone recommend a efficient, lightweight, vacuum cleaner to buy? Preferably, in Sitia or Aghios Nicholas. It is a long time since I had to buy a vacuum cleaner and I don't know what is available now.
Thanks.

Re: Eastern Crete

We live in a small village on the north east coast. There are one other British couple here full time and one English lady who visits for a few weeks each summer. The local villagers have been extremely warm and welcoming. They have become dependable friends. It takes about 40 mins to drive into Agh...

Re: Polecats

Gosh. Thank-you all for lots of good ideas. The ultrasonic deterrent I do like the sound of! I just don't know if my three cats will. Strangely though, the last two nights have been free of them. I don't know if they have moved away altogether or not. I think I will give it a little more time to see...

Polecats

Does anyone know of anything that will deter Polecats. A pair have moved in and are causing chaos in the garden. Our neutered male cat is turning up each morning with yet more battle scars and I am getting madder and madder!

Gardener

Is there anyone between Istron and Sitia who could help me in my garden for about 4 hours a week, 8 months of the year? Knowledge of gardening is not necessary. Just good English and common sense.

Central Heating

So the doctor says no more sombas, no more open fires. OK, when we moved to Cornwall, my brother (who is a qualified heating engineer) and my husband put in the central heating using Polypipe and radiators and a boiler from Screwfix. Can we do the same here, or does a local central heating fitter ha...

Re: Help. Shotguns not allowed.

Tim. What a brilliant idea! Yes please, do bring a couple of snakes with you when you come. If that doesn't do the trick, then I don't know what will. I don't think it matters about the colour or markings. I think I have read somewhere that it is the shape the birds and other animals respond to. In ...

Re: Help. Shotguns not allowed.

We call her Little Sh**, because she is, in spite of being raised by us from the time that she was found abandoned as a baby. She was so tiny, her eyes were unopened and we had to feed her with a hypodermic syringe. Still, she likes curling up on my lap and purring a lot when she has stopped behavin...

Re: Help. Shotguns not allowed.

Well the problem is resolved for now and it wasn't anything I did. I noticed recently, that the birds had stopped using my rose arbour. The seat and paving were remaining clean. I wondered for about 10 seconds why, then of course I realised that they were all busy making nests, laying eggs and hatch...

Re: Why I feel smug.

I was feeling sybaritic yesterday. I had lunch in my garden, next to this. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4620/38758736020_f6afe994a5_c.jpg . by Daisyincrete , on Flickr The heady perfume from the hyacinths was enveloping me. Strangely it did not affect the taste of my BLT sandwich or the ripe, juic...
