Re: Health cover? What is IKA? And how?

The brief answer is that IKA is similar to the NHS and reciprocal healthcare can be available for EU members. It is worth taking a look at the ‘Go to main site Living in Crete’ link above on the left and then following the links regarding healthcare.

Re: Bockenvilla

A few years ago we thought we lost two of ours and cut them right down to about one foot high. It took many months but they resurrected- I would wait as Kilkis suggests.

Re: Bockenvilla

Hi, I’m sure it’s not correct but we prune ours at pretty much any time of the year, when they need a haircut. We never prune hard, just enough to get the plant back into the desired shape and size or indeed to go in the direction we are wanting. If you are on Facebook there is a Gardening in Crete ...

Re: Pension bombshell...

I’m a 60 year old woman and I never received a letter about increasing the age to 66 before I can receive a pension. Until just now I didn’t know the Government had (allegedly) sent any!

Re: Air beds/mattresses

Hiya! We had the same issue as you as we have extra people coming for Easter this year. I feel sure that they must be available here but in the end we bought a blow up bed and camp bed from Amazon. Amazon do an excellent quality king size (extra wide single) camp bed with mattress.

Re: Cosmote Remote Control Replacement

Update: Anticipating that each person’s experience could differ from mine, I thought it worth updating this post. We collected our remote control this morning from Kalyves Post Office. When I originally called Cosmote to ask for a replacement I arranged delivery via a courier for the 5th February. (...

Re: General information required

Hello and welcome to the island! I don’t live in your area so cannot be specific. The norm here regarding unwanted items including furniture is to leave it by one of the communal bins and then if anyone wants it they will take it away. Or you could ask your local church or mayor if they collect for ...

I appreciate all you do Carolina. I used to be a moderator on a forum (like you, unpaid) and I appreciate the task before you. Thank you for providing a platform where we can learn, discuss and provide information to fellow members.

Re: Driving Licence - practical test

I believe that mine (under 65) took approximately 4-6 weeks to exchange, whilst Andrew’s (over 74) took about 12 -15 weeks, both periods of time calculated from actual date of submission of forms to KEP.
