Re: Any rebates available?

I've never met jackdaw but, like john4d, I think the replies to his post were a little strong. I would go further and say the reactions were overblown and unpleasantly holier-than-thou. Jackdaw asked a perfectly reasonable question and a simple "No chance!" would have sufficed. All of us w...

Re: Let's alter history

Why is this thread even on here? It has nothing to do with Living in Crete. There are plenty of "echo chambers" on social media where people can express their opinions to their hearts' content. Carol has ticked us off in the past for straying off message. I'm not saying the topic isn't imp...

Re: DEH Electric bill

I faced exactly the same situation, woody. The problem does indeed lie with DEH's database, which has a copy of my previous passport. However, although I DO know the number of my expired passport, I'm not sure it would be wise to set up an online account using the old numbers -- even if their databa...

Can't speak for Elounda, Forsto, as we didn't venture that far along the coast, but Malia beach 45 years ago was a glorious sandy strand with about three modest hotels at the back and the town itself was little more than a fishing village. Most of the island could have doubled as an idyllic film set...

Re: UK N.I. NO's

My account has written saying "In particular for this financial year the tax resident abroad is obliged to confirm the country of his tax residence.." etc, with a short form asking for a declaration of your country of tax residence, the address in that country and the "tax registratio...

Tim, I think you need to explain why you have a bra at all, even if it's only one.

A bit like the little ditty to remember when opening lock gates on a canal: Red before white, that's right. White before red, you're dead!

Re: Greece Flight Ban Extended to 15 May 2020

Trying in vain to get a refund from Ryan Air for a flight Chania to Bristol on 10th May. No refund available since the flight has not been cancelled. How can that be? We're still waiting for a refund from Easyjet for lost flights from Bristol to Heraklion on April 1st, five weeks after the flights ...

Re: UK FCO Advises Against ALL non essential travel

Indeed, Tim, and if people do transfer flights now, it's a cheeky way for airlines to maintain some working capital. Example: return flights we booked six months ago for April for £140 each (and have now obviously lost) are being offered for over £400 each in May. As our American cousins might say: ...

Re: UK FCO Advises Against ALL non essential travel

Good question Andrew. If the official FCO advice is not to travel, then surely the airlines should now be offering full refunds, as opposed to simply re-booking without a fee?
