Re: Olive Oil Process Question

If you take in a quantity less than that, because you only have a few trees, then it gets pressed with other olives and you get ...

Paperwork! Blimey Jeff it's a bit sophisticated round your way. Here it's the back of an envelope with the weight of olives, oil yield and acidity.

Re: Making olive oil from our few trees

My trees are in the south of Rethymno prefecture, olive fly (Dacus) has been a big problem in this area this year. Practically it is difficult to act individually against olive fly, you can buy Eco Traps or use home made traps baited with ammonia but unless nearby olive growers are taking similar pr...

Re: Making olive oil from our few trees

The cost of processing at our communal olive press is 10% of the oil produced, it's a neat system.

Re: Making olive oil from our few trees

You would need to check with your local olive press, the communal press in our village will process individual batches as small as two sacks. The alternative, not quite so appealing is to add your olives to a larger batch, the olive press would probably arrange this for you.

Re: Taking care of Molly

Thanks Graeme, I am happy to report that we have found someone to take care of Molly during our Xmas trip back to the UK. We have previously used the website http://www.mindmyhouse.com to find house and pet sitters for longer periods and will almost certainly use the service again in the future Peter

Taking care of Molly

Although cat lovers Monica and I vowed when we built our house on Crete that we would not have a cat – it simply was not practical as we split our time between the UK and Crete. It was not difficult to stick to this resolve as our Crete home is remote and we rarely saw cats near the house. Then Moll...

Re: Vehicle Testing

Is your vehicle inspection, KTEO, up-to-date? If not, now might be the time to get it done. Additional fines of €150 begin on 1 October. This is in addition to the existing fines. Also they will be applied automatically through the Taxisnet system. Warwick Thanks for this information Warwick, check...

Re: bigblu - formerly Europasat, formerly Tooway

Yes ,but do they own any satellites .. as Warwick says they are buying or renting bandwidth from the owners of the satellites ? This from Wikipedia: "BBB purchases broadband capacity from a variety of satellite companies, sells or rents to the end user the necessary hardware to access the inte...

As a matter of interest, are you able to access your data usage from the bigblu customer portal?

Re: bigblu - formerly Europasat, formerly Tooway

The ever-helpful Hitek Sound & Vision have provided me with a link to a Skylogic branded site where I am able to see my current data usage, bigblu still resolutely ignore all requests for help.

Re: bigblu - formerly Europasat, formerly Tooway

Thanks for that Jeff. The supply chain for Tooway satellite service is hard to follow, my kit is branded Tooway, I bought it from Hitek Sound and Vision who are located near Chania and according to their website are the "official agents in Greece for the supply and installation of the high spee...

bigblu - formerly Europasat, formerly Tooway

I recommend that anyone considering installing a bigblu satellite internet system take a look at the bigblu facebook page before investing. The dreadful experience of many posters mirrors my own recent experience. Ironically this decline in customer service level has coincided with the much hyped re...
