Re: Small parcel VAT tax

On Wednesday we returned to the U.K. after a holiday in France. We had visited friends on Sunday and had been asked to post a very small parcel to a family member in Bognor Regis on our return. I took it to the post office yesterday and the postage cost was £3.20. It arrived at its destination today...

Re: The Cretan Dialect

In the early 1990’s a young Athenian couple came to eat at a friend’s taverna. The woman spoke to me in perfect English and said she and her husband were both physicists and it was their first holiday to Crete. She went on to say they had arrived a few days previously but had been amazed at how diff...

Re: The start of the rot?

I understand completely why it happened Warwick. - It is a very sad state of affairs.

Like Jean, I actually think a chimpanzee might have done a better job, but I would not be so cruel to an animal!

Re: The start of the rot?

It is one thing to be ‘narrow minded’ and block posts from those you don’t agree with. It is another thing to block ones that contain misinformation and extremist views. Of course, the joy of a forum is that we can choose to read whatever we wish. I do not read a forum to be ‘educated’ by the bizarr...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

You clearly have not met my son and daughter Yorgo. - To even contemplate they would be manipulated by the Government, or that they have no backbone, is laughable. - The same goes for their friends. They are all educated, strong willed, politically informed people, and would certainly stand up for t...

Re: Crete off UK quarantine list

I made the same comment as you about people travelling to Kriti from the U.K. on another thread Chrissyg. I do hope the Greek Government does something about restricting entry to the country soon, otherwise over half term the island will be inundated with visitors from Northern Europe, - where the v...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

So true. Human nature is such that people do not want to admit responsibility for the mistakes they have made. The stronger, more emotionally developed people, find it easier to cope with such a situation and have the confidence to own up to errors. -The weak struggle and seldom get there. The U.K. ...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

There is now a question about the safety and correct procedures being carried out at a lab In Milton Keynes where testing is taking place. - Things are getting worse. It seems that even if ‘test and trace‘ takes place, the actual testing in the labs is not being carried out properly. On top of that,...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

Well.....Kriti is now off the U.K. ‘naughty step’, so over half term everyone from Tier 3 in the U.K. will be flying out to share their Corvid 19 with the Greeks! - Seeing as people are not self isolating when they should do, this will happen! I have seen the question asked in the U.K. on a number o...

Re: Level 1 for Chania. Level 3 Herakleion New guidelines

My goodness Yiorgo, are you saying you don’t believe Corvid 19 exists? I am not sure what you are stating from your last post. Firstly, your previous comments, (made twice) about not being able to see and speak to your neighbour....... Even in tier three people can meet up in a park in groups of 6 o...
