Re: A New Case

Seems like a safe bet there will be a second wave. Question is, how much of one? I reckon it might be quite significant on Crete, because of tourism. A depressing thought.

Re: British hopes of summer holidays abroad quashed!

Do we know how the restrictions will work? If you are British but live in a country from which flights will be allowed after July 1st, presumably you will be allowed in. But how will they deal with Brits who fly to, say, Frankfurt, from UK, and then on to Greece from there? Will that be a loophole t...

Re: Anyone wanting/needing to travel by air to Greece/Crete now.

I didn't see any ranting nor do I see how it is in anyway misleading......... Warwick, I know you have form for being a bit of a contrarian, but seriously? The report is posted one day after a Greek government decision that would have produced a completely different report had the BBC taken any not...

Re: Anyone wanting/needing to travel by air to Greece/Crete now.

Well, no worries now. Latest rules? No tests, no quarantine for international arrivals. At least it's simple..... Andrew Unless you are the BBC. Today's BBC website has this appalling piece of reporting. Misleading or what? He rants on for 90 odd seconds about tests and quarantine with one throwawa...

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Good logic, Warwick. Quite right. But luckily for most of those 9m, those trips won't be happening now. A close shave perhaps.

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Reading the previous posts about flights from UK, I am confused. Seasonal tourist accommodation in Greece is still closed. The last instruction I saw was that they would re-open on July 1st. Unless this has changed and I have missed it, it seems unlikely that easyjet, Ryanair, or any other package t...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

......I do take your point, and i suppose I am objecting to the blanket use of 'civil service'. Any rules-based organisation has a hierarchy and I can well imagine your average Exec Officer, up to Principal, trying to get the 'top dogs' to understand about the need to change the rules, being dismis...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Having said that I think the main problem in the UK was slow political decision making. Warwick Now there I would agree with you. Civil Servants MUST abide by the rules and procedures. If they go outside that, they are breaking the law and the moaners and groaners about the Civil Service would be b...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

......In life, anyone can cope with a situation when all is going well. It is only when there are problems that we see the true capabilities of a person/business/government. I am afraid to say they the majority of the U.K. public voted for BJ and his band of followers, and they are now about to wit...

Why do people keep quoting this? According to Worldometer, Spain has the second highest number of cases. Russia is third. What is your source for this, Warwick? Is there a better source I have missed?

Todays BBC main story on the website "Russia now has second highest number of virus cases".

Unless Worldometer has suddenly completely messed up it's numbers this is totally wrong. Spain is second highest by a long way.

Re: New case of CoronaVirus in Crete!

You can see Greece's death rate per 1,000 population since 1950 here plus UN projections going forward. You can also click on any country and see their trends as well. Warwick Interesting. I doubt this is a statistically valid conclusion, but the start of the increase in the Greek death rate seems ...
