Re: Olive oil, vinegar and now house-wine

They don't really do "delicate" in Greece. I'm with you.

Come on Bob, you know the answer. The government will now make 24% VAT on sales of oil which they didn't before.

Get them to dress the salad in the kitchen. Problem solved.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Protergia for power instead of DEH

I transferred about 18 months ago. Did the transfer at a Germanos shop, which seemed easy enough. Definitely saves money, no problems at all since then. It favours those with higher consumption. If you have any kind of nightime consumption, you will also save money getting a night meter.

Re: Looking to buy a holiday home..

Greece operates a system of assumed income, i.e. based on things you own you are assumed to have a certain level of income and you are taxed on that income even if you have none. I am not sure what the current status is regarding assumed income for people who are not tax resident. It used to be nec...

Re: Easyjet Chania

I received exactly the same email, but with Heraklion, my usual departure airport, substituted for Chania. Pretty obvious clickbait since eJ have never flown from Heraklion in the winter. Just the usual money making machine in action.

Re: Car hire in UK

Usually hire from Sixt at Manchester Airport. They are happy with debit card, UK licence, passport and number from dvla. They said they aren't bothered about proof of address with a British debit card and licence. We always phone their advice line first though to double check! Fascinating isn't it?...

Re: Car hire in UK

Andrew, have had a quick look and these firms have no mention of utility bills etc... although I would still take a cc statement but only produce if asked: https://www.europcar.co.uk/EBE/module/render/terms-and-conditions-general-rental-terms https://www.hertz.co.uk/p/hertz-together/driving-licence...

Re: Car hire in UK

I've rented from Green Motion at Gatwick many, many times and never been asked for my boarding pass. There again I have a Greek driving licence. Not sure if that makes a difference Warwick, it's in the first paragraph. Which just proves the UK is not much better than Greece when it comes to differe...

Re: Car hire in UK

Scooby, I would have said the same as you. If you are showing a credit card, presumably they can check the limit/balance, how does it help them to go through all the address rigmarole. And I must correct you. Having now trawled through T&Cs for about a dozen companies, there is not one that will...

Re: Car hire in UK

Green motion Terms and Conditions are pretty clear and written in plain English. Everything relevant is in the first paragraph. I've found them to be good on price. Cheers Warwick. I don't think I'm going to be able to get past the need for 2 address proofs, but I will keep looking. A demonstration...

Re: Car hire in UK

My problem is that there is not much consistency in what they ask for, and there are certain things I can't comply with. eg. I can provide a credit card statement with an address that matches my UK driving licence, but not a utility bill. You all know where this is going. Also, one site that said th...
