Re: Block on renewal of IKA books due to BREXIT

Today I renewed my IKA book for the first time , it took about the time it takes too soft boil an egg ...all smiles and waves from the folk in the office as I left and "see you next year".... Did ours on Monday. Simple. Didn't even look at passports or Residence Permits. Only interested i...

Five flights in December, two in January and another two in February so far.

Not to mention 4 in November. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/a34220

Re: Direct flight to Gatwick this morning.......

.....My guess would be that the charter is organised by a trade/business organisation such as the Cretan equivalent of the Small Business Federation or Chamber of Commerce. They probably have sufficient members - hoteliers/business people etc - to be able to put on one plane a month to the UK throu...

Re: Direct flight to Gatwick this morning.......

A little excessive, Warwick. My original question was based on my recollection that in the not too distant past there were what I think were called "bucket shops" offering spare seats on charter flights to individuals to book. This was when I lived in the UK. I don't know if it still goes ...

Re: Direct flight to Gatwick this morning.......

Thanks, Warwick, for the fascinating tutorial on the charter market. I don't think the flight in question falls into either of the two categories you mention, as evidenced by the fact that this flight flew on a weekly basis throughout November, December, and January. I mentioned this previously but ...

Re: Direct flight to Gatwick this morning.......

I'm not being sniffy, Clio. If you wanted to know about Aegean flights who would you ask? Aegean or a fat bloke down the pub. I would have thought phoning 801 11 20000 from a landline within Greece or (+30) 210 6261000 from a mobile or another country was more likely to produce a sensible answer. W...

Yes, ditto. Having checked some months ago and found no post office within any kind of sensible distance, I now find several close by that are allegedly doing IDPs.

Direct flight to Gatwick this morning.......

Amusing myself by playing with Flightradar24 this morning, I was stunned to see an Aegean flight heading out from Heraklion, headed direct to Gatwick. (Yes, I know, but I get bored in January.) Initially I assumed this was an error in the route codes. But no, it did in fact go to Gatwick direct, tou...

Re: International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

.......... The EU could agree to continue accepting UK licences as long as they are still in the EU format providing the UK agree to notify the EU if they decide to change the format, in which case an IDP would become necessary. So, you're saying that, practically speaking, an IDP is not really req...

.......They affix your photo and place an ink stamp over it (hope the prit stick holds) then stamp the types of vehicle you are allowed to drive (pictures in the front to make it easy to understand). Are you saying the vehicle types are different to what your licence allows? Why is there any need t...

Re: The Will of the People

......Yiannis Varoufakis described how Eurozone finance ministers "bamboozled" him into submission during the various crisis meetings. I don't think Varoufakis ever "submitted". It was precisely because he refused to submit that the EU nobbled Tsipras. Varoufakis realised he had...

Re: Property Register declaration

On consideration, surely the smart move is to forget about actually submitting your declaration until the deadline for Greek residents has passed. (Assuming you are non-resident for tax purposes). The office will then only be dealing with non-residents. By definition, there will be a lot fewer of t...

Re: Property Register declaration

If there are 5,000 properties that need to be registered (probably a *huge* underestimate), and assuming 2 hrs per application, and assuming a 40-hour week for the single soul currently at that office, I make that 250 weeks of work. This seems to be true in our city to get the ποστοποιήτικο μεταγρά...
