Re: TransferWise from multiple source accounts

Yes I did try that Warwick without success. Having been in touch with the bank I have now been told I can only close the account in person, even my lawyer who has always had full POA can not do it for me. I am now booked to come over for a week at the end of September to deal with things and of cour...

Re: TransferWise from multiple source accounts

Warwick is right. I set up a Borderless Account with TransferWise when selling my house. The buyer made all payments directly into the account from his Bank of Greece account in Rethymnon and I was able to convert and transfer the proceeds via Transferwise, within hours of the payment being made, fo...

Re: British hopes of summer holidays abroad quashed!

Frustrating times for all, my planned trip was cancelled in June - not all holiday, I still have unfinished business with my bank to close an account. Just found out, however, that I shall have to complete a tax return for 20/21at the end of the year in resect of the minimal interest accrued on less...

Re: where can I find?

Not long before I sold my property in June last year my UK Dyson died. I found a very reasonable Vac. in Praktika, Heraklion. It was a United VC7205C and looking at their website it is still available for just over 59€. Lightweight and moved very easily with additional tools, bagless and adjustable ...

Re: There must be a batter way?

I had a switch in the consumer panel to turn on the immersion heater. I only ever used it in the colder months, however, for twenty minutes or so. I used to set the cooker timer to remind me to turn it off! Never had to do anything with the solar installation other than have the anode changed in the...

Re: How fast can a bank transfer in Greece be made?

As posted in an earlier thread on this subject, I opened a TransferWise borderless account. This was a simple process, completed online. After my buyer paid his money in for the purchase of my house to the Bank of Greece for which he presented documentation, I was able to pass it to my UK bank accou...

Re: Fresh Cream

I never saw 'fresh' cream in any of the local Rethymnon supermarkets whilst I lived in the area. UHT pouring single cream and whipping cream was available in small cartons, however, in Lidl, AB, Halkidakis and Pavlakis.

Re: Doors and windows

As advised in an earlier query by another member: For doors/frames made to order I would suggest Christoforakis who are a wood working joinery firm on the right of the main highway, past Lidl. as you go towards Chania. ... They made a substantial set of rails for me to order for a reasonable price. ...

Re: Could this be true?

At the bottom of a box of yellowing papers I found a print-out of a post from the old Interkriti forum, sharing information on how to write a Greek will bequeathing everything to a partner and explaining the reason for this. I used the same method Clio having found the information on Intertkriti pr...

Re: ENFIA Property Tax online now

The link has been very useful together with the illustration on the Apokoronas news site. When I received the document from my accountant by email I was worried because the payment paperwork is different this year. I do not know the passwords required to download it from gsis, since my accountant ha...

Glad you finally got sorted, the drop in exchange rates has, no doubt, compensated for all the hassle!

Re: Property in Forest areas.

I am pretty sure back when developers were building no one gave a thought what land was being built on as long as the money kept flowing in those brown envelopes. Sometimes there is a simple answer as to why. No brown envelope from me when I bought, but my Builder ??? I paid land registry fees at t...

I gave this response to an earlier enquiry: For doors/frames made to order I would suggest Christoforakis who are a wood working joinery firm on the right of the main highway, past Lidl. as you go towards Chania. There is a filling station and the turn off is almost immediately after it down to thei...
