Re: Airlines bumping to standby (part 2)

I had a similar experience last September. While waiting at the gate for an early morning flight from Gatwick to Heraklion they offered 300 Euros, when that did not produce a response the offer was raised and then raised again. The final offer was 800 Euros. As a retired person travelling on my own ...

Re: Eastern Crete

"If you are an animal lover Cretans don`t treat there dogs very well most are kept chained or caged 24 hours a day!" Certainly not the case in the Sitia area. As you use the word MOST have you conducted a survey of all dog owners on Crete? If that is not the case please give the source of ...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

"expires when I am 70" Do you have the two part licence? If so have you checked the expiry date on the plastic part?

Seems to be the same 'quake as Warwick referred to, not the one from last night as shown in altohb's link.

Re: Yellow arrows on the road

Probably a good job they are not coming to Sitia. We have had yellow arrows on the road and they have dug a 100 mm trench where they were. I suppose that this would have kept the cyclists 'on track and stopped them wandering all over the road!

Re: Reliable Car Mechanic/Garage.

Have you had the electrics checked? I had rodents attack the wiring loom on my Vitara on three occasions causing varying amounts of damage. Check under the bonnet for droppings etc.

Re: Reliable Car Mechanic/Garage.

Going from Sitia to Piskokefalo after the Shell garage there is an EKO garage - next to that a motorcyc le repair place and next to that, set back a bit is the showroom / workshop. Just about opposite the school

Re: Property Tax, latest.

Saw my accounant this morning and have got mine but the system is not showing my wife's share. The computer said NO! Told to try again tomorrow. Turns out that a second visit was not necessary as the accountant emailed the documents to us, so I have ample time to get into town and part with my cash.

Re: DVLA changes affecting car hire

I hired a car from Budget at Gatwick on the 24 th and all they wanted was driving license and credit card.
They did not ask for passport nor paperpart of license.
No problem

What did you expect them to do? Other than making some sympathetic noises I can't see that there would be anything for them to follow up on.
