Preliminary EU contingency plans

I trust we are all happy here with EU contingency plan - specially those who voted blindly to leave! All expat with five or more years residency in a EU state will be treated sympathetically in individual states provided similar sympathetic treatment is legislated for in UK. What a cockup! I cannot ...

Re: Kent Report

Thanks Carolina. This forum and the Brexit section in particular is incredibly important in the debate on the merits of leaving or remaining. I am more than encouraged to discover that many leave acquaintances of mine have changed their mind or are having a second thoughts. In maintaining this excel...

Kent Report

Come on Carolina no need to be so touchy! Of course the Kent Report is not off topic. Anything that adversely affects the Channel ports will have a knock-on effect on Crete Greece ie people driving to and from Crete, deliveries of goods to Crete, repatriation of corpses etc. I read posts all over th...

Kent Report

No gainsaying that UK is in chaos. But lest there be any doubt about what's coming down the road read the report on the effects of a hard Brexit issued by the Authorities in Kent. If even half of this is true that then the conditions for civil disorder will emerge. I ask the Leavers /ostriches once ...

Re: The Will of the People

I wonder did you laugh at the ludicrous NHS promise on the bus, did you laugh at the idea of 'taking back control ', about 'securing our fisheries ' ha ha, about stopping migration - 100 refugees located in the Channel this past week alone. Naw, if there's laughing to be done it has to be at the nai...

Re: Flights

Scooby, if you read back you might pick up on who introduced the personal element. I think insult is a bit too strong a word though ;-) ;-)

Re: Flights

Ha ha anyone who employs Cash to bolster their argument has to be slightly innocent or naive or maybe both. As Kilkis pointed out, the EU is as Democratic as most countries in the Western World, so please stop using that particular spurious argument. Also, this nonsense about the EU being overly bea...

Re: Flights

Excellent contribution from Kelkis and Maud. Just one observation about a much bandied and lazy cliché from the Leave side, including a previous contributor on this thread. The EU is a totally Democratic organisation. All citizens of the EU have a vote on the make up of European Parliament. Potentia...

Re: Flights

For what it's worth - I was in Portugal this year, and of the perhaps a dozen British holiday makers I spoke to who voted leave 8 would change their vote and now would vote remain, 3 would vote leave again and 1wouldn't bother voting again. Of the 6 remain voters, all but 1 would again vote remain. ...

Why oh why were these things not put out there before the referendum vote. Now I see that credit /debit cards cooperation will also not function if there is a Cliff-edge. And there are people still advocating Brexit! I suspect the Russians are to blame for all of this, they must have put something i...

Re: Change Of Heart?

Ok Jean, I give way. I will delete this thread a little later.
At least it energised Graeme to respond after so many years, for that we may be thankful.

Re: Change Of Heart?

, I only hope your children can swim. That iceberg is approaching rapidly.
Only for the EU, and its quota the UK - if it continued on its pre EU entry fisheries policy (sic) - would have no fish left in their indigenous fishing grounds. Of course, if all else fails there's always Icelandic waters!

Re: Change Of Heart?

Now now Warwick, so the basic criteria is not to annoy people! I appreciate the forum is extremely busy and congested, and have many many other issues to debate and discuss, so on that basis I apologise for taking up so much valuable space and being passionate about one of the greatest self imposed ...

Change Of Heart?

Just an observation. I wonder, is there a basic sea-change amongst Brexiteers. Many original Brexit protagonists of my acquaintance are now claiming that this proposed hard Brexit or Cliff-edge is not what they voted for and certainly was not what the Leave campaign promised. I have detected a reluc...
