Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Kilkis wrote: "I can't see what advantage there is in waiting?" It depends on what might be required as proof of health cover in Crete. From the comments made on the forum, it would appear that people obtaining blue permits have been asked for S1 /IKA books as evidence, which obviously we ...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Thanks for clarification. I have a buff one issued in 2011 I think. I'll wait and see what Brexit decide to do before I go for a blue or not. If I can get free healthcare here in the future then fine but at the moment like a lot of other 55-65 ish people who have retired but can't have a state pensi...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

I thought the buff permits were for people who lived here more than 3 months so 2 long holidays or summer in Crete would be adequate. I take it the blue permits are for 12 months residency? So if the buff permit lapsed a few years ago but you've still not been here any more than a few months a year,...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Just a couple of questions. Thanks for comments so far. When I obtained my temporary beige residents permit the police were happy to use my EHIC card as evidence/guarantee of health cover, which I have used since then for health cover. Has anyone used or tried to use the EHIC card for a permanent re...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

NB if you receive a government pension it has to be taxed in the UK under present rules! So if you have no income in Greece you cannot be taxed in Greece.

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Maybe but pretty useless if healthcare isn't guaranteed as present in Greece and EHIC cards are useless otherwise might be essential to stay resident of UK (183 days in UK or else!) to guarantee expensive healthcare if required. Talk about no man's land!! B......y mess! I guess people who are alread...

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

If you are not entitled to IKA, does it really matter if you have a blue, beige or no resident permit? Who is going to check?

Re: Animal Welfare Under Attack

Totally impossible to understand! Apart from the welfare of the animals which is of utmost importance, who wants to go on holiday and see lots of sick, injured dying animals in the streets? This put me off Tarifa in Spain many years ago. Couldn't believe there were so many skinny sick animals, dogs ...

Re: Earth Tremor

There are also L waves which cause rippling of the earth's surface eg roads and railway lines. They are the slowest but are often responsible for toppling buildings and major damage.

Re: Mesh cover for pool closing...

We keep the pool filled over winter and pump going 1hr approx every day. No chemicals until March, other than the remaining chlorine from the summer. Water stays clean. Much cheaper than a cover and healthier than nasty chemicals. In March, start normal vacuuming and chlorine routine.
