Re: UK gov't updates

"It would be interesting to know if Italy and Spain have simply decided to do this of their own volition, like the UK has promised to protect EU citizens rights in the event of a no-deal, or there has been bilateral negotiation between the UK and Spanish/Italian governments." Warwick I hav...

Re: UK mobile providers

I've had a Virgin Sim since May. If I'm out of Crete for 2 months or more within 4 months then I should be hammered, however no probs. yet touch wood. I don't use the data allowance on it, just UK calls and texts. I never get near my monthly limit. I don't access my Virgin account on it either as yo...

Re: The Will of the People

Ha ha Guy! Obviously there are bigger priorities but I know many Brits here who have several rescue animals and IF they have to return to the UK, I'm sure they would want to take their pets back with them. So to some people here, it could be a big problem. This is a forum about Living in Crete after...

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

I'm sure most tourist companies in the EU will be fine recuiting from within the EU but how British based organisations cope is another matter. The thing is that thousands of Brits won't be on the recruitment list anymore as 90 day visas won't be good enough and they wont be paying tax in the UK! Ju...

Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

For anyone who thinks a hard deal Brexit is scaremongering. Note the impact on GDP, taxes collected and cost of holidays to Europe. Re: The Will of the People

I'm really not clear about the last line. Does this mean 5 years from 1/1/2020 or from when you got your resident's permit? What happens if you try to return to the UK after 5 years (whenever that is)? During the Implementation Period, as a UK national you will be able to visit, live and work in the...

Re: The Will of the People

Yes I was told by passport control man at Chania that things would be more complicated and there would be more controls in the future. He had a very grim expression. That was flying from Chania to Paphos. We were just about the only nonGreek/Cypriots on the flight.

Re: The Will of the People

Yes it is very sad and depressing. It's also going to make travelling more tedious.

Re: Update from HMG

Yes I was a bit surprised. The town hall has pretty limited space so I guess it's a way of controlling numbers and security. The ticket is barcoded.

Re: Update from HMG

If you want to go to Vrysses meeting, you need to register with eventbrite and get a ticket! I was sent an email about this. Not sure how else this info will be passed on.
