Re: Earth Tremor

There are also L waves which cause rippling of the earth's surface eg roads and railway lines. They are the slowest but are often responsible for toppling buildings and major damage.

Re: Mesh cover for pool closing...

We keep the pool filled over winter and pump going 1hr approx every day. No chemicals until March, other than the remaining chlorine from the summer. Water stays clean. Much cheaper than a cover and healthier than nasty chemicals. In March, start normal vacuuming and chlorine routine.

Re: Lightning damage

Sounds similar to BlitzOrtung. I find this useful using it on 4g to decide when to plug appliances back in. About the only time I use 4g as opposed to plugged in WiFi.

Re: mirroring to TV.

Been using Tooway for nearly 5 years to stream TV with no problems except under real extremes of weather maybe once or twice a year. Also have Sky for Sky sports. That works fine except in torrential rain showers. Having a UK ip address is a big bonus plus unlimited package. No chance of a phone lin...

Re: Kodi / Roku

Likewise Warwick. We have Sky TV for Sky Sport, Eurosport etc.... and a box bought locally which works brilliantly for BT sport and everything else. Not too bothered about most TV in the summer but like it for the long winter nights.

Re: Illegal grazing of Goats in olive trees.Advice please.

Been for several walks in the foothills recently with areas well outside the villages fenced off. I doubt if they had building permits. They were areas clearly owned and grazed by someone's sheep or goats.

Re: Mosquitoes

Have to agree with most of what you say Kilkis but I'd be lost without Greenlip Mussel tablets. They also work brilliantly on animals with arthritis, so no placebo effect as they haven't a clue they are taking it! I guess the companies who make the usual painkillers for arthritis really wouldn't wan...

Re: Buying a car in Crete

Have bought 2 cars from Supercars, Chania. We have found Manolis to be totally trustworthy , very helpful and he speaks perfect English. He will help you sort out the paperwork so you don't have to worry in advance! He also knows all the other dealers in Chania and does some second hand valuations f...

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

I'm not sure the Albanians would expect healthcare for serious illnesses if they don't pay IKAs? I think they would pop back across the border.

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

I doubt if there are many people living here who have the resources, potentially thousands of pounds that might be needed for major surgery or long term treatment for major illnesses. It's not just about forking out to see a doctor or consultant or routine x-rays. Wouldn't be bothered otherwise.
