Re: Property Tax, latest.

Thank you so much Carolina! It worked - although I had to use Firefox as it doesn't work with Internet Explorer for some reason.
I think it says on the foot of the last but two pages it won't work with Explorer 8. As it happens I used explorer 7!

Re: Property Tax, latest.

I have managed to log into taxisnet to find my obligations re property tax. Is there an "English" translation version of this site? Couldn't find a "button" for this on the site. (Doesn't mean to say there isn't one - just I can't find one!)
Thanks!

Re: Pet Passports

I think you'll find there are no rules/regs for taking a dog into Greece. There are when you return them to UK. We take our dog to Crete by road every year. For your return you'll need an up to date pet passport which must be stamped by a qualified vet in Greece to the effect that the animal has bee...

Re: Holiday in Crete

Honestly! To read all these posts anyone would think the world ended at Agios Nikolaus! Have a think about going to the far East - Sitia and beyond to Toplou and Vai. Living as we do in the far North East we holiday most years by taking a trip West stopping off in Rethymnom, take a few days in Agia ...

Sitia Airport

Just heard from a neighbour in my village - Hamezi, that the new airport building is due to be handed over "in the next few days." Anyone else heard this?

Re: Car Tax

Paid my car tax on line. And, made the payment by on line banking with my Greek bank account. They have a list of organisations you can"pick" to make payment to - Car tax is one of them. Very simple.

Re: Animal abuse - something positive!

A few weeks ago an elderly man in our village was visited by the police and told that his dog was housed in a tin barrel and on a short lead and if he didn't sort it out he faced a fine of €1000. They said they'd be back in a week to check. Well, this old guy has lived in the village all his 80 year...

Dogs on ferries

We regularly use the Ancona to Patras ferry. Anek, Superfast and Minoan. All call into Igoumenitsa. My dog travels with us in a Dog cabin (€50 extra) He refuses to use the sand trays, or the deck for that matter so we get off at Igoumenitsa and he relieves himself there. Also gives him an opportunit...

As I wrote earlier. We have never been checked by any one bringing our dog into Greece.; only returning to UK where worming is checked. I don't think "tick" treatment is mandatory now either. Our Sitia vet administers the worming treatment the day we leave which gives us ample time to get ...

Dogs to Crete

We travel every year, by car, to Crete. Landing by ferry in Iraklio. We always bring our dog with us. He has a valid passport (rabies jab every TWO years by the way) He has never been checked coming into Crete but is always checked returning to the UK. Local vet in Sitia supervises his jabs for retu...

Sitia Airport

Last Time I was in Crete (July this year) I drove to the airport in Sitia to see what, if any, progress had been made with the new terminal building. The building looked to be in the process of being fitted out and landscaping of the grounds was being carried out. Does anyone know if there is a comp...

Sitia

Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a medium/long term plan for the road layout in Sitia? The mayhem being caused at present is beyond belief. Going into town via miles of roadworks - none completed is a nightmare. Market days are surely to be avoided. Saw two prangs just this morning!

Transer of funds

I've always used "World First" No fees and a good exchange rate. You'll find them on line. Well worth a look.
