Pool pump not working

We live in Kalyves. My pump for the pool has stopped working despite having a working power supply. Can any one please recommend someone who could check it over to see what's wrong and then fix it? Thanks

As it's our first winter here can anyone recommend where to buy winter weight curtains and large woolen rugs?

Snorkelling masks

Sorry to be so banal when the fate of the world could be altered by events before, on and after the referendum, but could anyone recommend a shop that sells half decent snorkelling masks in Chania or Kalyves (obviously under €60) I've only seen the kind where you risk death by drowning as they fill ...

Re: Burglar alarms

Thanks very much everyone for your comments. I think the overwhelming advice is "don't bother". So I won't!

Burglar alarms

We have moved at last and are living in Kalyves. I've looked at previous threads, which are quite old but possibly not out of date, to see if anyone has had a burglar alarm fitted and how I might go about getting one installed. Also if there are any members of this forum who live in Kalyves it would...

Thank you to all those kind and thoughtful people who have given their experiences and advice over the past few days! There's lots to ponder. It will be nice to meet some of you in person over the coming months.

Broadband in Kalyves

As we are moving to Kalyves soon, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a fast-ish broadband provider and how do I go about getting hooked up. I will have a house with a phone line. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thank you for the contributions on this subject which are beginning to clear the fog - I really hate stuff about taxes. I guess from all of your very well thought out replies my course of action should be: 1) Speak to HMRC!! 2) Get an accountant in the UK 3) Get an accountant's views of what to do i...

Now decided to rent but ...

I've been really astonished by the number of truly helpful posts on my Jump or not to jump thread; so thank you all for that. Now this has raised another question. I am a tax payer in the UK - basic rate on my pension; my wife will be below the threshold to pay income tax. The question is, if we ren...

Thank you to everyone who replied to my original post. What a lot of sound advice you have all given! I particularly value the suggestions to rent. I think that we will rent for a year and see what happens (possibly even renting permanently). We would have to sell our house to move, but most probabl...

To jump or not to jump

Hi and thanks for those helpful replies. We have thought about renting but have decided that if we do jump we will move across completely. We are fully aware of the difference between summer and winter, and that a lot of things will close down at the end of the holiday season. Also, when you buy you...
