Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

I guess we just look at life differently. Some of us feel that the removal of our rights is something worthy of complaint and we will do what we can to ensure that we can continue to live here. We came here in 2006. We have already survived the Greek crisis, with its fairly drastic effect on our in...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

The above is my understanding too. But Brexit has ground down the 2 expats in this house so far that we'd almost welcome a poor deal just to avoid a no-deal, if only to allow breathing space to Dec 2020 to sell up and return to the UK. It has ground down the 2 immigrants in this house as well, Glen...

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Hi, altohb, just wanted to say huge thanks for postal proxy tip. It’s now all done and dusted and a great weight off my mind. Glad you got it sorted, Kookla! It wasn't my idea originally, but I was certainly pleased to have come across it! Given the tight timetable for this election it is definitel...

Waitrose in Cheltenham never dares run out of avocado. The natives would get far too restless.

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Thank you, that’s the page I got to but I couldn’t find the correct form, none of them seemed the right one. Do you know which one you used :) I didn't do the postal bit. The proxy has to do that. So - stage 1, find your proxy. 2, send back the form naming the proxy to your local authority. 3. LA c...

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

https://www.gov.uk/voting-in-the-uk#postal-voting is what you need, I think. When I did ours I sent the proxy form to our local authority. They then informed the proxy that it was set up, and the proxy applied for the postal vote.

Hope that helps.

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Good to know Yin&Yang. Perhaps I should look into a postal vote too. X May I make a suggestion, as I know from experience that postal vote papers don't always arrive in time. Contact the secretary of the party you wish to vote for in your constituency, and ask them to find someone who would be ...

Re: What`s the best way to get rid of Oleander?

It is quite likely that you will be unable to buy poison. As of a couple of years ago (I think) farmers had to sit an exam and be certificated to be able to buy poisons, and shops need to check that you have a certificate before they will sell to you. This is theory, of course, but our local agricul...

Re: State pension inequality

I seem to recall Women were crying for equality in the work place. Equal pay also. I totally agree with this, equality and equal pay. BUT Ladies you cannot have it both ways. However, I believe that Female do not have to work as long as Males have to.So in many ways you are still winning. Nope wome...

Yes Howard it certainly is , but if you already have a condition that is being treated it is impossible to get private health insurance ... ..or, indeed, if you are over 65(Greek companies) or 75 (UK companies, as far as I can see). I'm not even considering the cost of insurance, as this is unattai...
