Re: Property Register declaration

The whole purpose of the registry is to have an accurate record of legal title, Jeff. If you own land, with or without a house you should have a contract from a notary. The registry wants to record who owns what. The local land registry did a partial job by recording the contracts but the new land ...

Re: Property Register declaration

Tim, we have agricultural land, and the same accountant! I've been told to take all the documents to them in early January to check, and then go to the place on the Piskokefalo road. We actually have the "missing" one, as we went to a registry place in Sitia some years ago at the behest, I...

..and, as above - there is an office in Sitia as well! Opposite the high school (and Bidakis courier office) on the Sitia - Piskokefalo road.

Just an addition to the information above. If your house was/is a new build then you are also required to produce the building permission.

Re: Post from the UK

We received a card yesterday posted last Wednesday in the UK - this is about the normal time it takes, if not quicker! Conversely, I'm still awaiting a small package from Amazon due to arrive last Thursday! The company fulfilling the order use the post rather than a courier, so I know that isn't the...

Re: Donations to the Needy

To balance this out - for those in the far East of the island. Xalkiadakis, Ariadne and Lidl in Sitia all have boxes for the social supermarket.

Re: Ellinair

Aegean are certainly a lot stricter these days. At the Heathrow end cabin bags are checked for size and/or weighed both at check in and at the boarding gate. The suitcase allowance is 23 kg and I've never had any problems with that, but am very careful with the hand luggage as I don't want to fall f...

Re: Update from HMG

I came across it on a different facebook page, Warwick, and have asked for info about the time of the meeting. Might make a difference for those of us who live around 70km away!

I have gleaned that the East Crete meeting on 30 November will be in Agios Nikolaos, but don't as yet know what time. Will update.

Depends who is filling them, I guess. Ours don't weigh anything like that much - we prefer to take more, smaller bags than risk back injury!

Re: Olive Oil Process Question

Everyone's olives are processed separately. When you take your sacks to the press you need to tell them if you want to take any oil away for yourself, or if you are selling all/some of it to the press. Your olives are weighed after leaves/twigs have been removed, and then go into the pressing proces...
