Re: FULL Lockdown Monday 23 March 6a.m. in Greece

She (Calderwood) insisted: "This was a mistake, human error, and there's no excuses." Oh so that's OK then. How on earth can anyone except a complete idiot travel, with her family, to her second home on consecutive weekends 'by mistake'. That's on a par with the thieving MPs involved in th...

Re: Tax returns during lockdown

In the past I've paid ours by card or bank transfer but usually, in normal times, in cash by one of two methods. 1.) cash paid in his Xania office or, much more conveniently, 2.)via his sister who owns a periptero (usually run by her son) in the village. Obviously I can't speak for your accountant b...

This was good to see at the end of the report, too.
"Government officials have said that the bulk of this revenue will be spent on bolstering the public healthcare system."

Crikey, a scientist and a cynic in agreement. Does that make us jointly a cynical scientist?

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Just watched that. I'm not a scientist of any type nor do I have any medical background or competence (except for a cousin who is a doctor but I haven't spoken to her in at least 30 years) so I'm highly qualified to comment. I think this doctor is good at stories but the story has faults. There are ...

Re: FULL Lockdown Monday 23 March 6a.m. in Greece

While in every country there will always be those who obey and those who ignore, I suspect Greece has got the enforcement side more correct than the UK. Warwick There's a report in ekathimerini today (spotted by Margarita) about the numbers in Greece failing to follow the regulations. The report is...

Re: Any hardware stores doing home deliveries?

The bad news being you didn't get any exercise Phil. Tut Tut! Bob. I didn't use the SMS service but took a fully completed form. I saw nobody on my eight metres walk to the car. I travelled alone and wasn't stopped on the journey in either direction so about 16:00 sent an SMS notifying that I was t...

Re: Important Announcement Regarding movement pemits

The quick and easy way to find out is to send a message to the SMS number with, say, the relevant category activity number for shopping, or an exercise walk. If you get a response (normally virtually instantaneous) you know it works. My 10 years old non-smartphone works. Just make sure the message y...

Re: Any hardware stores doing home deliveries?

Now that I would like to see. ......... He wears a sort of rubber version of an old fashioned diving suit with what looks like an inverted goldfish bowl over his head attached to the neck of the suit. I can just visualise Filippos in that. Warwick I can also visualise the spectre, Warwick and that'...

Re: Any hardware stores doing home deliveries?

My car is in need of a mechanical repair - replacement of brake discs and pads - advised after a pre-KTEO check. The dealer's workshop is (legitimately) open and, having acquired the necessary components, the owner has informed me that the work can be done tomorrow (Friday). According to him the cor...

INGENUITY IN SPAIN

An ingenious Spaniard came up with a scheme to circumvent their regulations about leaving one's house/garden. It must have caught on and possibly been profitable because the Government has added it to their list of restrictions. "Spain has banned the practice of renting out pets for walks to sk...

I believe the Douma is scheduled to hold a special sitting to work out special exemptions for pedants. :) Tim. Edit. I don't mean Douma, do I? I mean Vouli. A perfect example of not posting on forums when you're halfway down your second bottle of red! And anyway Tim, it's duma (дума) not Douma. I g...

Re: Coronavirus video

From one bloody pedant to another, the opening words to your comment are, "Worth adding a few figures to the otherwise excellent video,... ". It's the word "otherwise" that implies a shortcoming of the video; that the video would have been excellent had the figures been included....
