Re: Any advice on starting a business in Crete?

I speak from experience .I had to give up the demon drink due to health problems .Namely severe heart burn and constant pain in the chest .I have the odd one but no more nights getting drunk on the stuff! ( well maybe the odd night ,probably once a month ,well maybe twice.). That's an entirely diff...

Re: Money Moving Post Brexit

my accountant has told me I must use my debit card as much as possible, and have been told by someone else that fines will be imposed if you don't use credit/debit cards. Things may have changed and it's the first I've heard of fines for non use of cards. My understanding is that Greek taxpayers wi...

Re: Money Moving Post Brexit

Bearing in mind we're due for another financial crash at any time we've recently taken to spreading the lumps into different accounts and also converting rather more than usual into cash rather than keep everything in digital form. When the banks freeze up again we'll still be able to buy food. Hav...

Re: Any advice on starting a business in Crete?

I think the Lady meant it was not a good drink for the liver and your health ....otherwise its a good drink! What makes you assume that? Even if your guess is right (which I suspect it isn't) does it matter what Tweet Tweet's reason is for condemning the stuff with a sweeping. "..........It is...

Re: Money Moving Post Brexit

Ever since buying a house here (1998) we've had money paid into UK banks and periodically transferred blocks here as required every a few months. Bearing in mind we're due for another financial crash at any time we've recently taken to spreading the lumps into different accounts and also converting ...

I'd start by going to any mobile shop and asking if they know anywhere that will unlock a phone.

Re: lapidary items or stone tumbler

There are loads of these items on Amazon and if you see something you want have a look on Amazon's German site; I've quite often found items there cheaper than the UK site sometimes because of lower shipping costs, sometimes just lower item price. Also, if paying in Euros there're no currency exchan...

Re: Motorcycle tyres

Quite right Kookla. When I wrote my first post I included George and Michalis who's a bit further along the road, on the right just past the Highway junction, near the little church. Then I edited that post and must have accidentally deleted the other suggestions. George repaired a tyre for me about...

Re: Motorcycle tyres

Does anyone have a recommendation for m/c tyre suppliers / fitters in the Apokoronas area. Guy at KTEO this morning said I should get my front tyre changed as it is 8 yrs old, didn't seen ar$ed with the rear which is the same age :-) Doesn't Kostas at the big shed on the right of the Kalami road (a...

Re: Fillipos help

Hi, Andrew, Sorry not to respond immediately but you picked a bad day to ask - I spent yesterday trekking around Athens and didn't look at the Internet for about 36 hrs. Warwick's pretty much right. Locally, my go-to company is Auto-Club (2nd choice is Kalives Travel). I always deal directly with th...

Re: Small World

Apparently, it leaks through the bottom and much of the land surrounding it has been sprayed with concrete so that water runs off rather than seems through to the reservoir. That's what I was told when I was by the lake a few weeks ago and areas sprayed with concrete are clearly visible. Water level...
