Re: When are small fires allowed again?

I have been burning a small fire on the beach ......... When do fires become legal? Not sure either way about fires on the beach being legal at anytime. Other fires, I thing are illegal until end of October (or may have been end Sept). Not quite on the beach old boy but more above the shoreline and...

Re: Winter Flights

Remember it's not only sun in winter. There are many ski resorts in Europe. Carcassonne, for example has more than 40 ski resorts nearby. As for the number of UK expatriates in Crete this has been discussed on here previously. I can't remember the numbers now but not all who live here travel often t...

Re: Winter Flights

There are no carriers with direct flights during winter. If you want to use a single airline Crete/UK it's Aegean via Athens

Re: Experts in pool construction, service and repairs wanted

I haven't had personal experience of their pool work but friends have had them do pool repair work done by them and were completely satisfied. I'd suggest speaking to Andreas (a Greek Cypriot from Birmingham who, of course, is bilingual). I frequently see him at the gym.

Sorry, Kathleen, re-reading my earlier response it was a bit poorly phrased. I didn't intend to imply any lack of your local knowledge; it was intended only as additional info for the original poster.

Re: Medical Insurance

Until you are in receipt of your UK State Pension you won't be able to get treatment under the Greek State scheme (IKA as most people still refer to it). You might get some cover if you have EHIC cards but technically that is intended to provide for emergency cover for people on short stays although...

Vinyl to Digital

At last I've completed converting my old vinyl record and tape collection to digital which means I no longer need my faithful old Numark%20EZ USB turntable deck so it's on offer. It's in full working order with necessary cables, upgraded playing head/stylus and original documentation. Latest softwar...

Re: Reupholster an orthopaedic office chair

There's an excellent upholsterer in Kalyves. If coming from Almyrida/Vamos direction, at the bottom of the hill entering the Kalyves turn left at the laundry towards Armenoi. After about 50m park in the car park on the right and the workshop is at the left end of the shops/offices alongside the car ...

Re: More Questions from the newbies

You could try Stavros, who posts on here, for insurance quotes. I use ERGO, formerly ATE, who are underwritten by Munich Re so they should be reliable. We also use ERGO as advised by Stephanos Katsifarakis who has given us excellent advice and service for both home and car insurance. (28210 86300 |...
