Re: UK Food in Supermarkets

@chrissyg regarding coriander. If you are in The Apokoronas there is a small shop directly opposite the Piraeus Bank in Kalyves called Filema. Coriander is known as cilantro in the US and sometimes labelled as such here; they have bunches of fresh directly opposite the entrance on the back wall. A l...

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Hi, altohb, just wanted to say huge thanks for postal proxy tip. It’s now all done and dusted and a great weight off my mind.

No,no, Howard. This is a forum with knowledgeable and enlightening responses from many. I enjoy reading and learning and have been helped out no end on various matters. Stick around, a lot of the banter is light-hearted. And no ‘willy-waving’ from me!x

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

My latest news is that, if there is an election ( 12 Dec date bandied about) a postal vote from my old constituency would not be posted from UK until 1Dec. (That was the reply that I was given.) Bearing in mind all of the Christmas post being sent out overseas, I think altohb and yin&yang, a pro...

Re: Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Thanks altohb- great idea. I was debating between the two. I could also have asked my brother to do a postal vote for me in the UK, as he lives in a different area. This idea though, would certainly give peace of mind. X

Greek Government website for UK citizens re Brexit

Yesterday I was looking at government websites to find out how I vote, in the likelihood of a general election. I am registered to vote in the UK, but reside on Crete. If there is a general election ‘before Christmas’ - in quotes as I have just read this in a British newspaper.

Re: Driving

All sound advice above. My two penny worth, when I leant to drive from my father, 'expect the unexpected!' Oh so true here.

I agree yin & yang. Three words are much easier to remember than a series of numbers and dots for longitude and latitude.

Re: Any Gardeners on here?Rosemary plant dying.

It could be a bacterial or viral infection in the soil and the roots. Rosemary doesn’t usually need too much watering. I would cut the dead out and hope for the best ( which you’ve already done.) Perhaps take some photos or dead bits or soil to a reputable garden centre or seed/soil specialist. Geor...

My bank gave the option of using a landline or a mobile. I gave Greek landline. Immediate automated confirmation response given, with code to use.

Re: ... So ...

Agree with your comments. Plus newscasters using split infinitives. My recent bug-bear was a few years ago everyone was saying absolutely, when they meant yes. Quite gushing and sycophantic.
