If nothing else, I have learnt two new words through all this mess. Kakistocracy and omnishambles!

Re: Please explain

Yep, makes me smile too. In Scotland children were given a mother’s maiden name for their middle name. My father’s middle name was Bishop. Always causes genuflecting and hilarity when going through the process of paperwork especially at the olive factory.

Re: Info for getting married in Crete

You don’t need to pay anything like that amount of money. Look online ‘documents needed for foreigners (or your nationality)marrying in Greece. If either of you have been married before you need the decree absolut paper as well. Check with your Nation’s Consulate. The process here needs paperwork fr...

Re: Block on renewal of IKA books due to BREXIT

I am reading these posts with avid interest. I am not of pensionable age, but thought, from reading through the S1 eligibility that I qualified. Seemingly I do not. I have now phoned DWP twice. Very pleasant staff, (last time they intimidated that it should be straightforward) but can’t get a an ans...

Re: Chimney sweep

Not sure where you are based. I seem to recall seeing a flyer on a telegraph pole, just past the school in Kalives heading inland for a chimney sweep service.
(If you are still interested, I realise this is an old enquiry.)

Re: Written greek to English translator wanted

Hi and congrats on your house!
I had documents translated, but over 20+ years ago, so no actual names to help you with. However, I’m sure if you ask your solicitor they could advise you of someone local to you. Failing that I would ask at your KEP office.

Re: Kalives- Tsivaras short cut road

Yes Bob, and also from the ethniki at Kalives up to Tsivaras. I went up today. The newly paved road takes one up to Tsivaras. If one takes a left off the new tarmac, just after the second bend up, it is still the same track that brings us out to the top of the hill, where you turn left to arrive at ...

Kalives- Tsivaras short cut road

FYI you might have read that this short cut has been tarmaced to help alleviate congestion at the laundry junction. I have just had to go out to see guests that locked themselves out... anyway, there was a car coming down as I passed on the main road and then having to to turn around as the digger i...
