Re: Photographers

I have today successfully had my Canadian passport photos taken by a very excellent photographer in Platanias. The shop is called PORTRAY and the service was excellent & the price very reasonable. I would highly recommend it. Thank you all for your help.

Photographers

Can anyone recommend a good passport photographer in Chania to do a Canadian passport photo for me. It is not a typical passport photo & some photographers have difficulty with the exact requirements demanded by the Canadians. Cheers, Maureen.

Re: A Question for the Troika

Kilkis, I have been thinking along these lines for a while now & totally agree with you. I think your second scenario that the troika are guilty of gross incompetence & negligence is the correct conclusion. They (the troika) are obviously totally incompetent sitting up in their glass towers ...

Re: Winter Fuel Allowance

I am totally against the decision by George Osborne to stop the winter fuel allowance to expats residing in Greece. We all know how cold it gets here in Crete in winter & the small help to pay fuel bills comes in very handy to people living on a British state pension. I just thank my lucky stars...

Re: The annual IKA-book renewal

Went to IKA on Souda road this morning (Dec 29) to renew books. Arrived at 8:50 AM to find the ticket machine wasn't issuing any more tickets. The number being served was 17 after 3 wickets being open nearly 1 hour. What on earth is going on? Are the unions working to rule? There was a crowd waiting...

Friends went today to renew their books, as they've started renewing already. Apparently they now require your residency permit & tax papers. Not sure which tax papers. Does anyone know?

Just now in Crete - Coping well with the beautiful hot weather that we dreamt about while living in the UK. Looking forward to cooling the house down now to a good sleeping temperature tonight. We longed for these lovely warm evenings in the UK where we could sit out well into the night. If only we ...

Yes, metformin is available over the counter at pharmacies. It is called Glucophage and comes in 850 mg tablets. A box of 30 tablets costs about 3.50 euros, however, you can get it for 25% of that if you have an IKA prescription from a doctor.
