Re: International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

When the UK went decimal my late wife's grandmother, then in her seventies, who lived in Bury just north of Manchester, was talking to a friend, of similar age, about how difficult it would be to get used to the new currency. Her friend said she wasn't worried because she was moving to Leigh the fo...

Re: A serious Question

We are both 53 years old. Do we have to go through tests even if we can get medical history from our GP?

Any idea of current costs for a couple of our age? Emailed a few people for quotes and waiting to hear!

International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

Please take note of the changes if you don’t have a Greek license and need IDP in the future. You won’t be able to get it by post or through the AA but it will be available from far more post offices! https://www.gov.uk/guidance/international-driving-permits-for-uk-drivers-from-28-march-2019#driving...

Re: A serious Question

Thanks lady and Gents, great input as usual. Taxation like Warwick says is a complicated issue. Some countries (US as an example), withhold tax on behalf of the UK and others where it’s tax free (ME region) has to be taxed by the UK as we are still UK tax residents. We had the residence certificate ...

A serious Question

How best can we prepare for the high probability of a no deal Brexit? There is no way we would give up on our dream of living in Crete now that we finally got our home right and are much happier living here. We are not of retirement age and still pay tax heavily in the UK (we can easily change that ...

Re: The Will of the People

I along with many people I know who previously accepted the result of the referendum now supporting a 2nd vote because of the clear lack of capability of elected politicians to deliver on the will of the people (52% of them) while protecting our country!! The choice is no longer just leave or remain...

Re: Flight time and taxi help!

If you travel with Sky express from Athens (or Thessaloniki) you would automatically get access to the lounge with decent food and good WiFi. Did it a few times and time passed very quick when you are comfortable, in contact with the world or doing Work.
Just an idea to consider
Cheers

Re: Ring fence our rights now - British in Europe

Agree it’s a good letter and I am a glass half full guy but, why would they? Art / basic principles of negotiations is that you don’t show your hand and made it clear you can walk away. Our team failed on both and the EU can attract our best talent through other means (many organisations already sta...

Re: The Will of the People

Only Santa can save us now ... Been glued to the tv for a couple of days listening to the “experts” on both side of the argument and the whole thing looks very amateurish with too many egos. Whichever way it goes this evening, it’s all heading the wrong way. They will manage to spoil Christmas for u...

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

Unfortunately Warwick, Turkey have changed the visa rules recently and we had to get E-Visa @€20 each but it took 5 minutes over the net. The rest was free as you have said. Visiting Istanbul was worth it !! We booked every place two days ahead of time and cancelled a few times to change hotel and h...

Great Overland Trip to the UK

After reading so much bad reviews and views about driving overland to the UK, we had so many concerns and we planned as much as we can for every eventuality (the Mrs was planning all kind of evacuation plans as if we were going into war). Our concerns were totally unfounded, most of the roads were f...

Re: Why Brexit is Right

For clarification, as far as I am aware you can only obtain Greek citizenship if you can prove a Greek bloodline. A law was introduced to allow children of immigrants who are educated in Greece to obtain citzenship but I think it was suspended because it was ruled unconstitutional. Warwick I am awa...
