Re: International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

I've heard from a few permanent residents that they plan to ignore the legal requirement for a driving licence "for country of residence" and simply apply for a 3 year International licence. I'm certain that this is not legal but will the local police know that? Indeed, will they even care...

Re: Driving Licences

Carolina, on that page: "Exchanging your licence If you change your residence to another EU country, you don't usually have to change your driving licence. You can use your current licence as long as it remains valid." 1. The British Consul and her greek (expert) colleague stated that a fo...

Re: Driving Licences

I've just been told by someone who exchanged licences last year that a translation is not required. (rolleyes) But it took three months because they rejected the initial set of photos. That would suit me because they don't steal the UK licence until they issue the Greek one. So I can still go to the...

Re: Driving Licences

Thanks, Warwick. I have only the modern pink card licence. I have translated it thus: 1. Επώνυμο: (Surname) 2. Μικρά ονόματα: (First names) 3. Ημερομηνία (Date of birth) Τόπος γέννησης: (Place of birth) 4a. Ημερομηνία έκδοσης: (date of issue) 4b. Ημερομηνία λήξης: (expiry date) 4c. Εκδότης: DVLA (UK...

Re: The Will of the People

The possibility of a hard Brexit looms. This will only please a very small amout of people. You mean a small number of people. (You can have a small "amount" of people if first you run them through a mincer!) Is this what everyone voted for? In my case, yes. And, if the previous PM...

Re: Charging my Kindle

I charge my Kindle (touch screen model) with a Belkin twin USB charger.

The usual reasons for no charge are:

1. Faulty charging lead.
2. Insufficient current capability of charger.
3. Lint in the Kindle socket.

Re: The Will of the People

If you've been keeping up with the QAnon posts and associated discussions, you'll be aware that President Trump and his Military Intelligence team are influencing the Brexit outcome. In fact they have plans for the entire system of world trade in terms of removing control from families such as Roths...

Re: Polecats

Mothballs are called "nafthaleenee" in Greek. General hardware shops often stock them. If you can't get them in perforated plastic containers, make your own out of plastic tubular containers. They seem to work. My Honda wiring hasn't been chewed since I suspended tubes of mothballs around ...

Re: Ground Almonds and Dried Figs

Surely the cheapest method is to bung almonds in a blender and lie figs out in the sun to dry? I have a small fig tree in my garden and my part-time UK neighbour has a huge tree and lets me pick figs from it. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+dry+figs As for fresh almonds, I don't ...
