Re: Download from YouTube

I use this Add-on for "Firefox" web browser: https://www.yourvideofile.org/ Also (I think) this one: https://technologyto.com/media-capture.html YouTube continually tries to block such Add-ons (frequently succeeding) so whichever you choose is likely to stop working eventually - sometimes ...

Re: Greek EHIC card for a resident Brit?

I just used the landline ..I know it's expensive but we don't really have the bandwidth for skype ... I use Skype 4-way video call each week with less than 3.4 Mbps download speed (and less than 800 kbps upload). Problems are rare and usually caused by someone* deciding to download/stream a movie s...

"Public" near the indoor market in Haniá are also good, although my experience is only with Apple Macs.

Road tax for 50cc mopeds/bikes

For the last five years I've paid road tax on my 50cc bike - €3 + €12 = €15. Each time, I've enlisted the help of others but this year I'd like to do it myself. The tax for 50cc vehicles is due in April (unlike other vehicles). The method is to locate the relevant webpage, fill out the form, print o...

Ah, which shall I get in order to travel to the UK? I rather fancy a ferret.

Re: Finding a 12v Car battery charger!!?

I would have thought that Babis in Kalyves, opposite the EKO filling station, would have one. Failing that, there's the car accessory shop in Haniá which is past Lidl and turn right. You go up that (Mournies) road from the National Road, past Lidl and on until you reach a set of traffic lights where...

Re: Satellite TV

You can see all satellite channel listings at http://www.lyngsat.com Sky News broadcasts from the Astra 2 cluster located at 28.2 degrees east of the southern meridian. I think that Euronews also still has a channel on that satellite. If not, try Hot Bird satellite located at 13.0 degrees east of th...

Re: Choosing a New Lap Top

I won't try to advise but I'll tell you what I did. I have just bought a mid 2012 MacBook Pro to replace my wife's 2011 MacBook Pro. It was easier than trying to fix her "slow running" 2011 MBP while she waited (but I did try). Of course, after I bought the "new" laptop, I discov...

Re: Barrister opinion on legality of a no deal Brexit

Boris has been speaking to Donald and they already have a provisional trade agreement for November 1st. Trump really, really wants brexit to happen because it will give him huge leverage over Europe. I don't think that anything is going to stop brexit now, despite the Socialists' desperate attempts ...

Re: International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

I've heard from a few permanent residents that they plan to ignore the legal requirement for a driving licence "for country of residence" and simply apply for a 3 year International licence. I'm certain that this is not legal but will the local police know that? Indeed, will they even care...

Carolina, on that page: "Exchanging your licence If you change your residence to another EU country, you don't usually have to change your driving licence. You can use your current licence as long as it remains valid." 1. The British Consul and her greek (expert) colleague stated that a fo...
