Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Follow the money. A recent HCQ paper published in the Lancet was funded by the Chinese. I'm not including the link to it. You can believe whatever you like but I recommend perusing ALL the available evidence before making up your mind. Yes, I'm afraid that it takes time but what else have you got to...

Re: Top Up Heating Oil?

Well, I "bit the bullet" and bought 400 litres of oil at €330, which works out at €0.825 per litre. I was reluctant - not because it evaporates (it does, but not much) but because my plastic 1000 litre tank is ten years old and I'm worried that its useful end-of-life might be approaching. ...

Re: Vaping and Coronavirus

Interestingly, statistical studies allegedly show that smokers don't fare as badly with COVID-19 as non-smokers. Believed to be due to the nicotine, although there may be some other effect. So I'm trying to breathe in as much "vape" as possible! __ Can Vaping Cause Cancer? (I recomm...

Re: Allergy/Pollen Count

In the uk I suffered terrible allergies from rapeseed, in Crete, it’s the flowers on the olive trees, and there’s millions here, Likewise. On one occasion I drove past a rapeseed field then had to stop the car because my eyes were watering so much that I couldn't see. The "cure" for me is...

On the subject of disposable masks, I wonder if they can be re-used if they are sprayed with anti-bac after each use? Bright sunlight each side for two minutes. Alternatively, if mask is washable, soapy water. There's no need to use antibacterial soap unless you like to waste money. I also read tha...

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Yes, maybe it depends upon the particular virus's ability to reinvent itself as a different strain. I think I read there are 600 variants of the common cold coronavirus. There are already 30 strains of COVID-19. The most virulent were found in Italy and Iran. So don't hold your breath for an all-en...

Here's an interesting report from two doctors working in the field. (I listened at 1.25 speed, since it's a bit slow.) See what you think about their conclusions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=xfLVxx_lBLU Also, just received 2 minutes ago from George Atsalakis "Tax Oasis" in Xaniá: ...

I can confirm that Greengibble at Litsarda will take orders and do their best to bring them on the next trip from the UK. It used to be monthly but I don't know what's happening currently.

Re: Kalyves Post Office

I was in Vrises P.O. yesterday to post a package. Kostas, the Vamos postie, handed me a bundle of mail and asked me to deliver it to Kefalas INKA, since I'd be passing! (I did so.) I received packages from the UK in that delivery and also two other packages, two days previously. So UK mail is defini...

Check the 1200 or 1500µF capacitors for slight bulging of the supposed-to-be-flat tops.

Re: Pool pump not working

Generally, if the power is reaching the pump but it won't run, the startup capacitor needs to be replaced. They can be ordered online. There are only two wires to connect. (Turn the power off first.)

...an incoming flood of tourists and second-homers who think they can share our isolation with impunity. We don't have a flood in our quiet village but the locals were incensed by a woman and son from London who turned up to stay in their holiday home and wandered around the village (mostly just ge...

Re: CoronaVirus now confirmed on Crete

Someone emailed me a link to a BBC article: https://www.bbc.com/news/51980731 Just think logically for a second: in the last 60 years we have pumped more than 100 TRILLION dollars into "cancer research". And there's still no cure for ANY form of cancer! Does that scenario seem even remotel...
