Re: RICHARD SHARPE

Thanks, I'll look out for the Stonehenge. Don't know how I missed that one. I actually discovered Cornwell thanks to a recommendation on this forum (from Phil?). I was a bit sniffy (cultural snob? Moi?) but soon had to take off my hat to a brilliant storyteller. Have loved The Saxon Chronicles and t...

Re: RICHARD SHARPE

Netflix currently has Sean Bean taking the money and running in an awful historical epic which I won't condescend to name. I was so disillusioned by what the years have done to Sharpe as was, that I was obliged to rewatch the box set. And was really surprised at how well the TV version has stood up,...

Re: What`s the best way to get rid of Oleander?

Just ask for "Round Up". Every Greek knows what that is. Personally I'd rather not know, but it's obviously very effective: I've seen the results of an application a number of times, and it looks like the roots don't stand a chance.

Re: EHIC CARD LOST

Mine was something like two years out of date when I happened to check. I asked for a new one by phone, with some trepidation because I had no idea if the system was still the same, or if I'd have to fill in forms. A pleasant and helpful operative took my details and said the new card would be sent ...

Re: Latest EHIC & Reciprocal Healthcare

Michael Gove, asked in the House this afternoon what British nationals in Europe should do for health care, once the promised six months elapses, replied that the government continues to negotiate the issue with other countries on an individual basis. And, he concluded: "The NHS stands ready to...

Re: What are "skneepa"?

Σκνίπα. Gnats or midges, says the dictionary - though I think in English those are two slightly different things, and the gnat is not such a nuisance. The σκνίπα though is definitely a first cousin to the legendary Scottish Highland midge.

Re: Could this be true?

I was writing from personal experience, Warwick. Textbooks are useful but they don’t always tell you about what happens on the ground. When my husband died the notary complained about all the work that would have to be done because he hadn’t left a Greek will. Our three sons would have to read, sign...

Re: Could this be true?

If you are married, jointly own a property, have not made a will and one of you dies, the Greek law says that the survivor inherits half of the property. The other half is divided between any children of the marriage. Those children must then take a Greek tax number and have to submit Greek tax retu...

Re: ENFIA Property Tax online now

As far as I'm concerned, chance would be a fine thing to learn about my ENFIA liability in any language. No joy on getting into the site. "Me neither", said my accountant cheerfully. "It was just the same last year. It does 't occur to anyone that as soon as the information is availab...
