Re: Plane spotter arrested near CHQ Airport

I don’t understand it either, Guy, but live and let. We all have our interests, some verging on passions, and to others they may seem esoteric, exotic, or downright bonkers. Now this, I really don’t get. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-43843614/sugar-tax-revolt-meet-the-ribena-stockpilers Marmite, y...

Re: Plane spotter arrested near CHQ Airport

My late wife used to drool over sailors in dress whites.

Can't see it myself, but each to her own...now if we're talking late 18th/early 19th century naval officers in white breeches, in ships of the line with billowing topsails..I do love a cocked hat.

Re: Plane spotter arrested near CHQ Airport

The naval vessels are often not identified on the site but if you can get the hull number (painted large on both sides) they can almost always be found on Wikipedia or another shipping site (Warships of the World is good)
etc etc

I guess this must be a boy thing.....

Visitors!

Anyone visiting Knossos on May 10 should look out for some fossilized remains from the proto palatial era.

Re: How to Watch UK TV Abroad

I just wish I could pay a fee for the privilege of watching.

Me too, and I'm sure we're not alone. You'd think they would have worked out a way of offering an encrypted service to anyone outside the UK who's prepared to pay the (equivalent of) the licence fee.

Re: How to Watch UK TV Abroad

For the past few days access to the BBC iplayer via expressvpn has been very unsatisfactory. The company say that they're aware of the problem and their engineers are working on it. (I have this vision of a kind of battle of the engineering brains, with the Beeb's boffins forever trying to build vir...

Yannis: The Return

Varoufakis today launched his new Greek political party with a view to fighting elections next year. Perhaps someone better than me at economics could have a look at the Greek New Deal link in the following, and let us know if his programme is a) a Good Thing and b) achievable? I hope the manifesto ...

Re: New Animal Welfare Law

This may have been one version of the original story, although obviously not from Kathimerini. It's the one I forwarded to an animal rescuer friend, anyway.
