Re: What's happened to the events section ??

Perhaps Carol did some house-keeping and cleared out the old posts. I don't suppose there have been (m)any events to advertise for several weeks.

Re: Novels set in Greece

I’m also looking forward to reading: “Greek Lessons” by Rita Wilson and “Eurydice Street - A place in Athens” by Sofka Zinovieff. Sofka Zinovieff has another book "The House on Paradise Street". I haven't read it but I listened to the BBC Radio serialisation. The story moves between the p...

Re: Spouses selling a house

When we sold a house here I had to go back to UK for family reasons. Before I left I signed a Power of Attorney for my husband to act on my behalf. The notary who drew up the PoA was a great pains to make sure i understood what I was signing and that I realised that my husband could run off with the...

Re: A New Case

Margarita I hope the patient has a speedy recovery. Clio I agree with you and Margarita re hygiene. I still naively think of it as the ‘new’ hospital. The staff are wonderful, but the building itself showing neglect. The cleaning of it is, or was when I was there, quite poor. The patient is fully re...

Re: A New Case

We spent a good few hours in A&E at Hania hospital yesterday afternoon. It didn't strike me as the most hygienic of places. The medical staff all wore masks & gloves whilst attending to patients but there seemed to be no requirement for the general public to wear masks/gloves. In the waiting...

Novels set in Greece

An interesting article in today's Guardian entitled "10 of the best novels set in Greece – that will take you there" https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2020/may/19/10-best-novels-set-in-greece-corfu-kefalonia-crete An interesting selection of books - a few of which I have read - supplement...

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

Are you English? I find the English pretty thick in Crete! Especially the ones that go in that irish bar ,Paddy McGinty's ,Geogreoupoli of an evening! Even more so the ones that go on a saturday for that pie and beer and music etc!! I sit there laughing at them when I go in there! At least we know ...

Credit to Greece

A nice article here

https://www.apokoronaslife.gr/?p=71678

giving credit to Greece for its handling of the Covid 19 crisis.

Greece hardly ever seems to get a mention in the UK papers (other than in relation to migrants) compared to Italy and Spain so it's good to see it getting recognition.

Re: Important Announcement Regarding movement pemits

I have the feeling that the government will tighten things up before Easter but that might also be in the form of higher fines for non-compliance. I read an on-line article yesterday, which i now can't find, which says there are plans to stop city dwellers moving to the countryside for Easter. Thes...

Re: Kalyves Post Office

We had post delivered last Wednesday (1st) by Manolis from Kalyves Post Office. The letters had come from UK but it was the sort of mail that is not post-marked so difficult to know how long it had taken to get here.
